my parents had a 1980 oldsmobile delta 88 and i don't think it was made as well as the older cars. It had a 307 ci V8 that leaked oil and had no power.
i spent a good portion of my childhood in the Delta 88. That shot of the dash board brought back a flood of memories. Whoever found and uploaded this commercial has my thanks.
@toborthegreat1 not quite...Jetstar 88 was the base model from 64-66. Dynamic was the base from 58-63. Super 88 was the highline from 49-64. In 65 the Dynamic was the "high-line" and the Delta was a sub-series of the Dynamic 88. Delta became a full-line in 1966. In 1967-68 Dynamic & Jetstar was combined into the Delmont 88 line. In 69 all 88's were named Delta thru 1988, and then renamed just "Eighty-Eight" a name that hadn't appeared on cars since the 1958 Dynamic - which had words Eighty-Eight
I once looked at a 1964 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 330 cubic inch motor with the "econo-way" carb (two stage choke) it was an original survivor in nice shape - i was 19 years old and could have bought it for less than $4,000... well it was sold before i could get the money :-(
That is a mans car.

Beautiful 88. Hard to believe that just 20 years later Olds was building crap like the Calais and Firenza.

So the government allowed an Air Force base to used for a GM commercial? Sure looks like GM has been sucking up tax dollars for decades.

@MrSloika Oldsmobile's catch-line used to be the "Rocket" as in the "rocket V8" Thats why they paid to have this ad made. Like i said, paid.
