Why the fuck do these ignorant parents allow their children to play in filth???Then they wonder why the kids get sick and die? What do they expect? Surely these people aren't so ignorant that they don't understand the connection. Do they not know about germs,viruses,bacteria-you name it? Why don't they try and clean up some of that shit? This is disgusting.
If you are that poor how do you become addicted to drugs? In order to become physically addicted to a substance you have to regularly use a drug for quite a while. So if you wasted all that money on drugs and not food for your family it's your fault and you shouldn't be worried about not having government handouts. Just because you are born poor and into a bad situation doesn't mean you don't have to make smart decisions and try to improve yourself. There's no excuse for that.
@4jai2brons0n Africa is by far the worst "welfare state". Africans need to be more worried about helping themselves instead of waiting for UNICEF to come and bring them aid. That sounds mean and I'm sorry but if they had this mentality there would be no need to send support to them and they could finally provide for themselves.
why do these people have more children when its obvious they are going to be living in these horrible conditions. Im really curious. I understand they have sexual needs but cant they use condoms or just not ejaculate inside. I would like to have more kids myself but I know I cant afford it. Why are these people not aware of thier own situations. Im not trying to be a jerk , i would just like to know from someone whos been there what the mindset is.
@mr1shogun I ask the same thing-I'm not looking to be cruel, either, but it boggles my mind why they have babies knowing they can't feed them, that it will make their own lives harder and knowing the misery they're bringing them into. I guess it's just human nature to want to procreate despite the circumstances since we see this in the West also-welfare moms having kid after kid.
In these third world countries it's even worse. Give the guy a handjob-anything but stop making babies!
12yrs ago I was working as a building contractor out in Africa. One day the site foreman offered us some triple-pay overtime on a “confidential govt project”.
To my horror, this turned out to be driving an excavator (UNANNOUNCED) through a fully-occupied slum to ‘clear the human filth’. I was told I’d never work in the country again if I refused! Men, women & kids scrambled their few possessions as I mowed down their homes- I kept my eyes CLOSED, knowing injury & death may have resulted.
Worked in Kibera for more than five years. It changed my heart and my life. This video takes me back... Used to work for KTDP. They are still on the ground doing wonderful work. U may read more about them on kiberatransformation.blogspot.com
do you know people have to pay to live there? usually a 1000 sh per month. for a "house".. in kenya it's all about money, if you can afford it you can easily live a european lifestyle in the big cities.
But life in the slums is not good. Most men drink "changaa" all day, starting from 6 pm you can't leave your house or risk getting killed, mugged or raped. there's no electricity, scarse clean water, etc. And people who work in downtown have to walk for several hours if matatu is too expensiv
It's not so bad. Happy music. Kids smiling. Ladys making babys. Places to play. Trash to cushion da hard ground.heck all my trash has to be in my apartment. Looks like they allowed to keep theirs outside.just throw er out da window.Neighbors helping neighbors.now go watch video of rich areas.you won't see anyone smiling kids and people enjoying day.
No we don't need to help them they just want to be lazy and fuck all day and get hand outs I think its good population control. If they don't want to make their community better and don't want any responsibility then they don't need to be on our planet. 6 billion people and climbing, we don't need any more people.
you have no heart. These people are not there by choice but because of poverty.
of course we don't just have to give them money. but there should be good jobs available as well as education so they can work their way out of poverty.
@NYtassu When humans were hunter gatherers, half of them died before reaching the age of 30. The entire human population was only in the thousands because it was checked by disease, weather, predation and other natural conditions. If you want you can back to that time and see how it feels, but im certainly happy with my modern human inventions.
wierd thing is, people have been donating money for food, water, for those people. wy didn't anyone do anything with the infrastructure of the slums? that would at LEAST stop them from being destroyed by floods etc.
After watching this video, it really makes me think back of the generation before me. I'm from Malaysia and there aren't any slums here. I live in a duplex condominium where there is a spa, badminton courts and swimming pools. But my parents and many of my friends parents lived in places like these. I feel so sorry for them. It's actually a privilege to be able to go to school, never mind having a laptop and a phone and living in a mansion. Hopefully, these children will live to be good people.
well its good to at least hear they are building apartments there with running water and all... In America the city of Detroit is considered a slum but its nothing compared to this... at least the people of Detroit have clean running water and a sanitation dept.
when are people going to understand, its no good throwing money at these ppl, what happens when it runs out? we need to find a solution to eradiacate poverty once and for all and that is put an end to the capitalist system
@Canashea Lawl, at first I thought you had a intelligent comment. But when you went to the capitalist part you lost my respect, every 1st world country is democratic or capitalist you dumbfuck.
@Canashea Dude are you a commie? Yeah sure democracy isn't the best but look at all the countries who tried something else, you sir are indeed the piece of shit you can't spell.
@BiliousPizza no im not a commie and im also not a 'dude'. i can just see further then the end of my own nose. explain this then, why is it Africa is still a cesspit and people are dying unessacarily of discese and starvation when people have been pumping money into it for years, theres the proof that money isnt the cure. but i guess a small minded american wouldnt see that would they?
@Canashea Hmm that was an intelligent comment. I can now see what your actually trying to say, at first I thought you just used this as an excuse to hate on America. Yes I agree we should stop pumping money and try to establish a system. But what are you? A republican? A socialist?

It is something about seeing them from another point of view that made it seem so real again. I am in so much despair right now. I have hope, but know that this is so awful and so wrong. The people live in such terrible conditions while most of the world lives like royalty and still complain daily. Awareness, compassion and love is what we need.

You know, seeing slums like this makes me think sometimes it's better to live without modern human inventions.
Right now we see they're lacking a lot of luxuries (as a modern race)
But if they live the hunting and gathering life, they are suddenly not lacking much.

Lol, that last part: "if you want you can back to that time"
You sound like I can actually do that. And, NO, like hell I "want" to.
YOU are happy with the modern life, because you dont live in a slum (I think lol)
These people are not, and we are just talking about these people here. If you're talking about everybody else, that's a different story.
If you have a lot, you lose a lot. If you dont have anything, you dont lose anything. In my case, I will lose a lot, so no thanks.

I stayed in Nairobi for a month. Them people are in really bad shape, but their are so many people that it seems pretty hopeless.
Craziest thing seeing people go to the roads & fill the potholes with dirt & hold their hands out hoping someone will spare them change for doing so.
