Great playing on your videos, Huw! Especially these motown pieces. I'm really a six-string guy myself but from time to time I think about getting a P-bass, just for the looks and for grooving out this motown stuff :) Your P-bass sounds great!
Sincerly that's just awesome man, I never heard a mute fender PB before and I think It will be in my next stuff. That's just a great sound in a great cover.
By the way, was it new or used when you bought it ? It seems to be an old fender.
Keep playing man you're really a talented bass player.
@UnMaxDeGrOove The bass is tuned D-A-D-G (drop D). I bought it second hand last year, and the original owner bought it new around 2007. It's a 'classic 50s' design though, so maybe that's why it seems old!
I found your videos while researching the bass you're playing. Ended up ordering one myself. Love your videos and the tone you get out of that bass. Besides the foam mute are you using flatwounds as well? Again love your playing. Post more!
@backbrainmedia Yeah it's a great bass, especially considering the price!
All my basses are strung with rounds, usually nickel. At the moment though that bass has some worn-in steel DR Lo-Riders on it - not out of choice, just because there was a mix up with my last order.
I've not actually had the chance to put flats on any of my basses yet, which is a bit ridiculous. When I can afford some more gear I'll definitely get another Fender just to have flats on it permanently.
@hoobert Nice! I just got some nickel plated DR lo-riders a couple weeks ago. Maybe when the new bass shows up I'll string it up with those and give it a go. I think I'll have to practice a hell of a lot more to come even close to your tone though :D
@Galv1nBass The foam mute stops the strings from ringing out, but the attack is preserved.

Foam mute? What does it do exactely? I can see the blue block, but, shouldn't that mute your strings completely?
