If I'm not mistaken, Jeff was married to Stephanie Mills at this time & Jeff & Jody started closing ranks with eachother. They've been tight for a long time at this point, from their Soul Train days. I see them together alot thoughout this video, with Howard kinda on his own. Even the reveal is apart from the group. Sad. I loved this group.

@brxgrl523 Not true. In fact Daniel had quit Shalamar prior to the final album 'The Look' and did not contribute it was all contractual. He was already divorced from Mills. There was no closing of ranks between Watley and Daniel. They weren't 'tight' at all - you might want to view Unfiltered at the jwatley1 channel on youtube

This is Jesse Johnson on the guitar solo on "Dead Giveaway" what a great Nu Wave R&B song summer 1983 getting ready to go school for my junior year and working the summer gig to get clothes and a weight set (couldn't afford the bass guitar yet) but this was the year I wanted to start playing this type of music after hearing Prince and Revolution"s 1999 and " Shalamar's "The Look"

it was Shalamars biggest hit, although Uptown festival and - Second time around also cracked the top 40 - it was at the time when they really wanted MTV exposure. and Aimed at New Wave - with Strafe ( comin from another place) - and Barkays (freakshow on dancefloor) and Earth wind Fire ( Magnetic) - None of the songs got on MTV at the time, they were listed to R and b. meaning Black.

I saw Jody' s show recently, and she is still hot! We might not get a taste of what she is doing on the radio, but she is working, and doing well at it. She says she feels no need to have to be at the top of the charts and on the radio like she was before since it has already been done. It seems that she just does not want to take herself back to place that just was not good for her. It just mght be too painful. We don;t always get what we deserve, but we get what we settle for. She refuses.

The classic line up's last hit was the cover of Babyface's For The Lover in You which they appeared on which was a Top ten Pop Hit and hit # 2 on the R&B charts. Plus Jeffrey, Carol and Howard only perform only overseas

It was her sister, (you know the one who went into adult cinema?), that was the person Howard was interacting with. The sisters look so much alike & have the same body types, that people thought it was Jody "throwing down" in those movies. Rumor, not for sure, but I can see it.

A reliable source who worked on Unsung documentary said Watley really gave the scoop but it got cut. Apparently there are parts of this video where a stand in was used for Jody Watley. It was already over, and Hewit, Griffey and Sylvers got their wish.

But "Heartbreak" with Micki Free and Delisa Davis fulfills their promise if only more people listened to it. This is my fav video from Shalamar!!!! I was in high school when this video was released. It was tragic that they never had a huge following here, in the States as they had in their adoptive UK, and continental Europe. Their inner turmoil within the group, ultimately lead to members Jody and Jeffrey leaving. They were HUGE in the UK and Europe though!!! I still love their talent, and they crossed the racial divide that still plagued music back then, especially here in the US. Cheers & Thanx!!!!
