Toyota should bring back the more colorful display screen, and it also needs to be enlarged I think. Oh yeah, they've got to do something about the washout of the display during sunny days. Beyond this, for a hybrid, I like the car a lot. I live the Civic Hybrid a lot better, but no folding rear seat is a deal breaker. Package III w/ Navi and USB ipod integration sounds like the best configuration if you don't want all the other bells and whistles.

Because diesel is really hard to maintain, the price of the gas in the states is higher, the engine noise is bad and is more polluting than petrol.

Really? I didn't know that. I've been in California and diesel prices are higher than gasoline prices. Of course that was way back in 2005. Can you give me figures for the price for both gasoline and diesel? Do the prices differ from each state?

No, diesel is higher in the states than gasoline that is true, but diesels aren't harder to maintain, modern diesels are very quiet, and a modern diesel vehicle doesn't pollute anymore than a gas engine.

You forgot, that Diesels in the states use to cost much more than un leaded gasoline.

A 50 MPG Prius with good interior room

Is actually more expensive to operate fuel economy wise.

Reliablity wise, maybe the Prius will be more expensive to maintain over a 10 year period. I don't know that yet.

Computerization actually slows things down. I remember my 1970 Camaro would start instantly and I could be on my way as fast as I could let out the clutch.

if you do the research the insight only gets a epa 5-9 less but in actual driving tests its only 2 mpg less

@crammage The gauges are there so you don't have to look down, if you watch crs review, you can see how the prius just makes more sense because by the time you get things that should be standard in the insight like stability control, you are paying the same amount of money for a car that gets over 5mpg worse. IDK, just get a ct200h or fusion hybrid, prius and insight are geeky and dorky.
