  • This is one of the best trailers I've ever seen.

  • I prefer dubs over subs.

    Problem?

  • A clip from Manga trailer 0:00 to 0:27

  • "...there's nothing left to lose...except your life."

    That was hilarious.

  • Nagisa at 0:47 ?!

  • @2GuysAnd1More Her name is Yui you silly. Where would you get the name Nagisa from? :P

  • @FalconFlyer69 Some weird almost hentai anime. I think it's called Ice Cooler or something like that.

  • The most important film to ever be made, then dubbed. Matrix+Transformers+Cocaine= MegaZone 23, Get into the Zone.

  • 0:42 GETS LAID ALL SUMMER LONG

  • Comment removed

  • Uh, thats some pretty bad recent re-dubbing guys. "Guys could get laid" i'm fairly sure thats not the original translation.

  • On another note wouldn't this be cool is this was kinda a prequel of sorts to Robotech?? Kinda a early days of transforming mechs thing!!

  • @rang3r34 uhm, robotech came first methinks

  • @LhynnBlue Yes, I'm aware of that...I was alive when Robotech first came on tv. I was just sayin IF.....

  • @rang3r34 Actually, Harmony Gold did a dub of this, spliced in some footage from Southern Cross (along with changing the story to fit in the Robotech continuity, albeit barely), and released it as Robotech: The Movie. It had a limited release in Texas as a test run, but it was a huge flop. It was successful outside the US, though, so there have been VHS releases, but their take on it apparently sucks, so I'd stick with ADV's release instead. I've heard the MZ23 DVD has clips from it as extras.

  • @HolyKatana Sweet!! I din't know any of that! I knew some things about this anime looked familiar to me! Thanks ALOT for the info!! :)

  • I so need to see this movie! I saw it once at a video store that was going out of business for 1.99....In my ignorance I didn't pick it up..:( Anime from the 80's ROCKED!!

  • wow... this is intense...

  • GET LAAAAID ALL SUMMER LONG

  • The next anime con I go to I'm going to wear a plain white t-shirt with "I miss ADV" written on it.

  • Vic Mignogna :D

  • in the beginning of this, it kinda sounds like the matrix...i think i know where the idea of the matrix came from now...

  • Definently ganna get my hands on this.

  • 80s shit

  • @dapithapon

    The 80s weren't shit.

  • @WolfieboyMachi I mean it's from the 80's

  • Streets of Fire reference at 0:42!

  • @BileSoup i lol'ed

  • Now this is an Anime trailer!

  • What's the song at the end??? It rocks!!!

  • "What? He drop-kicked a cop car!?"

Any piece of fiction which contains that line is good. Fact.

  • computer that controls our reality? agents in suits? did matrix rip this off?

  • @Kelnar7

hahaha. You are RIGHT. This movie was made in 1985!!!!

The Wachowski bros said they were influenced by Anime, they watched this movie and adapted it to Live Action!!!!!

  • and a guy with cool bike could get laid all summer long.

  • @proxyeva lol lucky bastard

  • now i get where the idea for Matrix came from

  • hm.... now i get where the idea for Matrix came from :)

  • I'm pretty sure reality is an illusion, but damn, it sure could use a version upgrade.

  • "ROBOT BIKE, DON'T FAIL ME NOW!!!"

Sometimes, I say that when I drive past yellow signal lights. Even though I drive a car...

  • *french*

  • how is this related to Iczer?

  • @fiskefyren With the exception of Tokimatusri Eve - beautifully rendered by Haruhiko Mikimoto of Macross fame, the primary character designer for Megazone 23 part 1 is Toshihiro Hirano, who happens to be the creator of Iczer one. FWIW Hirano got his start as storyboard artist for some of the 1982 Macross TV episodes. Episode 26 titled " Messenger" was his work.

  • lol most spoilers for a trailer

  • most of this old school anime has pretty good english voice actors

  • 0:42 - that's the real movie that inspired the creators of "megazone23"

    lolololol

  • I will say this in my sexy voice

You need to watch this this anime from a time when everything about anime was perfect and if you watch this in English you are cool will get laid.... all summer long!!!!!

  • That isn't a drop kick, is it?

  • yea it is.

  • ZOMG HURR DURR SUBDUBWAR

  • Shogo >>>>>>>>>>> Neo

Greatest preview EVER. And yes, the Matrix was a ripoff of this (Much better) flick.

  • @roothands Actually, the guys who made The Matrix never seen this (at least, before they made the Matrix).

  • The 80's were perfect, if you think of about it. The movies were original, the content wasn't overdone...

  • @lavosgundam I agree 110% . The 80's were the best. It makes perfect sense that's the time period the computer choice, especially when you think about Japan at that time.

  • Matrix?????

  • This is one of the best and most awesome video anime you will ever see. Highly recommended, especially if you watch the ADV Films English dub. You won't be disappointed. One of the best plots in a science-fiction anime.

  • LOL did he just say the 80s were perfect? o_O

  • yeah you were in a diaper at the very end of the 80's LOL you sure know a lot about that time, huh

  • "And a guy with a cool BIKE, could get LAID all summer long!"

Best line in any trailer EVER.

  • @zoddman

    that how i met a girl .

  • "He drop kicked a cop car?"

    Best line in the trailer.

  • 30,000th viewer. YES! YES!

  • looks like this anime rocks

  • Man, I remember seeing this anime when I was in middle school. I thought the old school anime was very oringnal and diverse. The new anime sucks because it's the same damn thing. This anime was like robotech, except with sex and violence!

  • Fun fact: This anime was actually used to make ROBOTECH: The Movie

  • actually robotech originaly had sex and violence in the macross version from japan

  • Looks like the Japanese thought of the Matrix before we did. My favorite part of this trailer: "Go back to a time when the music was hot and the girls were hotter." By the way, I'm I the only one who notices that the trailer overvoice is the same as that agent at 0:58?

  • Looks like a cool anime,

amazed I haven't heard about it before.

  • Anime. Owns.

  • Alllll summer long!

  • This is a very good classic anime movie. But do you guys watch this movie with English dub or Japanese with English subtitles?

  • Watch it with Eng Subtitles and Jap. Lang. if its your first time watching it. Just my opinion

  • Only for morons who can't read subtitles, it's not a debate about langauges, but rather the quality of the voice actors doing it, and generally speaking the English dubs are terrible because of the voice actors. It can be done well though (see Engish dubs of studi ghibli films), but smaller English publisers will never invest that much money in, so instead we get people who probably did the voices for pokemon.

  • The Japanese aren't dubs, because they are the original voice actors, as how the production or the creator envisaged what the actual characters should sound like, it wouldn't make sense for them to put all that effort into creating something and ruining it by giving them less than average voice actors, which is what the English dubs people are a lot of the time.

  • Again, Japanese is no better than English.

  • You don't seem to understand, it's not about whenever one language is better than the other, it's about the quality of the voice actors, it's like saying a badly dubbed version of a hollywood movie is better than the original with the orginal cast.

  • But you're not getting nothing is being ruined. It's voices and english is as good as japanese as long as the point is getting across.

  • I'd have to disagree with you there, while the imagery and idea is the same, how it is carried out is extremely important, and in my opinion having crappy voice actors (Not all Engish dubs are bad as I've said) certainly does not do the original justice.

  • Watch it in whatever language(s) you can speak. Reading subtitles is only going to detract from the viewing experience.

I'm sorry but anyone who says they prefer the Japanese voice acting to the English when they can't speak Japanese really doesn't have a clue what their on about.

How can you advocate something can't understand.. Sure some of the english dubs might be cheesy but that doesn't make the Japanese one better, especially if you can't understand what their saying.

  • @Neosophist Nah, I like to watch the movies in the original language they were made in.

  • Even if you can't undestand Japanese? You miss animation out by having to read!

  • @Neosophist I read manga in english just fine. I can enjoy reading movies too.

I'd never watch an english dub of a frence movie, either. It's just preferences.

  • Sure is :-) I don't like subtitles as I miss too much film / animation if it's in a language I don't understand.

The only peeve I have is when people who cannot speak a word of Japanese say that it's better than their native language dub! Megazone's ADV english dub's pretty good! :-)

  • @Neosophist Seriously, Vic Mignogna did a damn nice job as Shogo.

  • @CCharmanderK I agree, the english dub of Megazone 23 is awesome.

  • @KazuoKiriyama666 Yeah, but cartoons and movie are different. In a cartoon, you can have the little drawings talk in whatever damn language you want, and it doesn't make a damn bit of difference. It's not going to look any better or worse because of it, it's solely the delivery that seperates them.

In a movie, you have actors saying the lines, and having a dissembodied voice narrate in english while a bunch of obviously not-american actors are onscreen is irritating and distracting.

  • Lol, like Dragon ball Z

  • True, but have you ever seen Chinese people talk like Americans?

  • @Neosophist I watch all of my anime in Japanese with subtitles first and then in English. I enjoy both. I get the pure experience with the Japanese track, and I get to see the entire picture with the English track.

  • Wow! If this doesn't rule, what does? LOL!

  • Get laid all summer long, thats Legen-wait for it-dary!

  • whats the song at 1:46 ?

  • That's "Tomorrow Blues", my fave song on the soundtrack.

    However, this trailer SUCKS.

  • @AgentXXII What's the track that starts at 1:07? I've heard a slower, vocal version of it on an old ADV trailer for the combined trilogy and I've wanted it ever since.

  • @Erden It's been a long time, but I believe that is "Rock Cafe"

  • @AgentXXII

After getting my hands on the soundtrack, I can confirm that it is 'Too Lonely To Sleep'.

  • @Erden Ah well I can't speak Japanese so I cede to your greater knowledge :D

  • LAID ALL SUMMER LONG

  • "Robot bike don't fail me now!" lol...

  • "and a guy with a cool bike..will get LAID all summer long"..

    nuff said

  • he sounds like the same guy that did Hikaru's voice in ADVs Macross super deminsion fortress english dub but less surfer like. This looks awesome!

  • At least a couple of the voices from the english Megazone 23, do voices in ADV's Macross. the voice of Shougo is the voice of Hikaru in Macross. i've never seen Megazone 23, so i'm not sure if Shougo is the character you are talking about or not.

  • He's also the voice of Edward Elric 8)

  • i used to love this movie i had the whole dvd series

    and even the artbox

  • OMG!

  • Orguss is being released on dvd. Check out the trailer!

  • =^-^=

  • There was the old Streamline Pictures dub from the mid 90's as well.

  • That voice over sounds like Dr. Cox from Scrubs

  • That narrator sounds so lame and cliche, "hot bike gets laid?!", what is this, anime porn?

  • Well it does have hentai in it. :P

    Great movie though.

  • Um. Yeah. Easily THE most spoiler-iffic trailer ever. I saw this OVA without knowing anything about it beforehand. The OMG MATRIX revelation scene blew me away.

  • the matrix? wtf...

the guys who made the matrix stole this idea and improved on it... everything leads back to anime =^-^=

  • It is actually a pretty bad dub job.

  • its actually a pretty good dub job.

  • I WANT!!!!

Finally get to headr a dubbed version of megazone. WOOHOO

  • AUGH. IT SOUNDS HORRIBLE WHEN DUBBED!

  • I AGREE!!!! Good God!!! How HORRID! The most horrific DUB since DEVILMAN. Im so sad and infuriated to see my favorite anime movie being desicrated like this. I would concider myself an anime "purist" and to hear the voices here is beyond words :( no no no NO!

  • Ur fuckin retarded the dub version sounds fine!!! quit complaining u baby.
