I'm a real fan of both the games + movies I enjoy watching these movies with cast/director commentary to see how as people they have developed in the film making industry, unfortunately Paul went from a grade A writer + directer to a definite C with this movie.
That doesn't mean it's a bad film because it isn't theres allot of very cool moments extracted from the games, I just think he tried to cram too much into the film that should of been spaced, the biggest problem though is the pacing.
This movie put me to sleep, literally. It was so boring and uninteresting. Also for some reason Alice just pisses me off when I see her face. Not the actress the character she plays.

Funny thing is that the Underworld series has reached Resident Evil level, with Underworld: Awakening. Everything that was said in this review for Afterlife I pretty much said in my review of Awakening.
I actually had fun watching this movie in 3D and I enjoyed the movie in general. I know that I'm going to get alot of hate for saying this, but after watching it in 3D and for having a good time: i will not only buy this movie on VUDU, but I'm also going to recommend to those who like this movie series (Like me). Didnt like this movie much for the following reasons: 1# Uses slow-mo almost all the time and uses it unnecessarily in some scenes. 2# Zombies are no longer how they were in the other films .i felt like i was watching The Matrix and not the zombie horror i use to love. These 'Resident Evil' movies are the worst, sadly I wasted my money watching Afterlife in 3D in which the 3D only made it SLIGHTLY better but overall, it sucked, although I was hoping it had improved. However, I agree, the resident evil 'movies' seem to be butchering the franchise along with the recent 'Resident Evil games'. I can't see movies r anything in 3D 'cuz I always get headaches after 10 mins.What's worse is that every theater has the movies in 3D,so I can't watch any movie until it comes out in DVD or Blue-Ray or pirated them(don't like that option but...).So yeah,f*ck 3D!

These 'Resident Evil' movies are the worst, sadly I wasted my money watching Afterlife in 3D in which the 3D only made it SLIGHTLY better but overall, it sucked, although I was hoping it had improved. However, I agree, the resident evil 'movies' seem to be butchering the franchise along with the recent 'Resident Evil games'. Capcom seem to be doing absolutely nothing to resolve this and no longer care about what the true fans really want anymore and only care for the money they rake in, shame.

i remmember saw an article somewhere that say that most american hav esome weird eye problem and cannot see the 3d effect. maybe that's why angry joe can't see teh effect clearly.for me 3d is fine but i prefer not to see it

@MrReiskaseiska Sadly, I would have to disagree. Resident Evil 5 cannot POSSIBLY be apart of the Resident Evil Franchise, I say the same for Resident Evil 4. Resident Evil started off as SURVIVAL HORROR and should have stayed as such rather than turning it into another action/adventure game, not saying all action/adventure games are bad but should never have changed this game series the way they have because now it is just going down the drain and needs to be put down if not returned to normal.
