  • this really opened my eyes to using jazz-i've lossened up and started to swing more-my friends at college were blown away when i showed them - now to show the ladies ;) cheers marty!

  • Marty that was insane stuff-and i love your guitar. i played that quick hendrix lick to my friends at college and they thought it was the best thing since sliced bread-i bow down and kiss your feet sir

  • nice guitar and even better playing. keep rocking

  • Marty you Rock and Rule, a big thanks for sharing (for free) your knowledge.

  • This was A GREAT LESSON, mr Marty himself!

  • james brown chord? we always called it a blues chord...

  • Cool vid, thanks man!!!

  • what guitars do u usually use

  • Sounds john mayer-y.I those first two chords are what john uses to open waiting on the world to change. But yeah, john uses all of the techniques you used.

  • Thank you my man, guitar is some times like looking for your glasses when you have not got them on.

  • This is so true :O!

I did about the same on a PIANO (I don't play that usually) myself xD Why didn't I think of it when I played the guitar

Anyway, if you check 3:30 and compare it to JIMI HENDRIX - 1983 ... (A Merman I Should Turn to Be)

which is for example on Electric Ladyland, you will see that it sounds... like almost the same :O

great lesson :) this is the first guitar-teaching link that I'll keep in mind

  • Hey Marty, very nice video. Simple but effective chord combination. The sound also reminds me a little to the more bluesy songs of John Mayer. Thanks Marty. Great lesson.

  • one of john mayer influences is hendrix

  • Oh...My...GOSH!!!

I had no idea that's how those sounds are created. I thought you had to somehow pull that off with a regular D-Barre chord!!!

This is going to be harder to keep track of but it will be worth it for the sound!!!

    WOOHOO!!! THANK YOU!!!

    Dm
