  • What eyes ! :) :)

  • @johnmonk1 i agree or u can spend 40$ and get a 39$ fixed blade

  • I don't see what should be costing a hundred bucks, you can put a better kit together for less than 20

  • I really like the container, however there are way too few drugs. tylenol is light and can make a big difference. I would use a box cutter any day over that knife. like most "store bought products the container is cool but the contents is really lacking. I have come to the conclusion that I will buy one of these kits and throw away the contents just to have a good container :(

  • i have a sewing kit just like that, i stole it from a hotel i stayed at

  • The blades suck but its better than having no blade at all

  • oh and if you wanna put all these simple items in the box get a $20-$30 med kit and you will get 10X the med supplies as this

  • i bougt a dry box from my local military surpls stor brought it homeand nitced its not 100% water proof

i got ziplock style starage caontainers that are differant styles and sizez for 1/3 the price

check all places like your big supermarkets with alot of differant departments you will find better things for cheaper

    i learned my lesson

  • I think those alcohol [ads can dry out pretty easily.

  • I definately need sunscreen. I burn easily. Speaking of which , I have flourescent lights in this living room need to change to a bulb in a lamp. lol

  • Survival kit always has some fishing tool. However, if you have never fished in your life, this doesn't have much use I guess. I never have this in my survival kit as I never fish, I just hike.

Has anyone ever really fished with a tool in survival kit? And any success???

  • Can you build better? Sure. You might even be able to do it for less than GearPod's cost if you know how. BUT...

For people who want a good, simple kit, I'm reasonably impressed. There are things I'd do different, but for Joe Average, the cost and form factor are right. This could go into any carrier for a Nalgene, so clipping one to a mountain bike or adding it to a pack is easy. And as a COTS kit, it fills a nice place in the market. I wish them luck.

  • its way 2 bulky

  • What I like best about the Gearpod scheme is that they sell all the containers and components separately, so if you like their system but have your own idea what should go in it, you can build your own.

  • All these companies put too much in their kits. The idea is to pack light. These kits have too many things. They are all really bulky. Look at some of the millitary survival kits, they are all small!!!

  • One positive is people may get an idea to select what they want from a video with allot in contents. You have a point with small and lightweight.

  • @thorne179: Rule of thumb in the military: If it weighs more than a pound, its a camping kit, not a survival kit.

  • I would replace some items, drop the plastic knives. Add a multi-tool and a sturdy foldable knive. Wiresaw is only for cutting som tweaks, but is seems to be standard for al the survival tins. Get a better compass. Some decent paracord etc etc.. Use the tools in a simulation and you will know what is useful and you need to replace. The waterproof-pod is a nice idea though.

  • It's quite a comprehensive kit. But that's also pretty bulky to carry in the back country.

  • I use to make those @ home using plastic peanut butter jars for a fraction of the price..

  • looks pretty good, would be useful to keep on a snow mobile or ATV

  • This is an interesting item. It looks like it comes with alot, but i would definetly at a little more just to personalize it. Still has some great items in there though!! Excellent vid!!

  • I've seen them previously reviewed on Youtube before and thought that they did cover everything that one might need but simply as an opinion I wouldn't spend my money on one... to me its just more fulfilling to create and customize my own last ditch kit than to go out and buy one. Besides who knows better than an individual what they need in their area.

  • i dont think ive seen a demo of the alcohal stove ...from what i understand it a 2 fuel use stove ...denatured alcohal and esbit ? is that same stove?

  • @charper3006 posted a video review of the Hexagon Burner in use with denatured alcohol.
