  • Why the hell are these things always so limited? Everytime I see a new piece and go to the MattyCollector site to check it out, it's sold out. I don't have the time or inclination to watch the sodding website 24/7 just so that I can buy something before it's sold out. MAKE MORE OF THE PRODUCT, PEOPLE.

  • what an overpriced piece of shit.

  • I tried posting a video response to this showing my video review of the Red Lion...but i doubt it'll get approved cause Mattycollector doesn't seem to like opinions that aren't glowing about their stuff. Check out my channel though if you'd like to see a HONEST review of the first part of this Voltron set

  • ...so when is the version with the chrome parts coming?

  • funny how u gotta stick the key in the A-hole.lol

  • @a1nall You don't need the key. The key actually only opens up the cockpit and nothing more. That was just for show.

  • i remeber having the yellow lion and the shoulders would move in and out...

so when you transformed it, it would bring the legs closer to the body

  • you need a key to transform him...this'll make the legs poorly articulated. Lame. I'll stick with my original 80's Voltron.

  • Whole lotta plastic. Not worth it.

  • Havnt toy companies learned? YOU DON'T PUT A GIMMICK ON A TOY'S ASS!

  • I just wet myself!

  • not bad...but thumbs of if you think placing the key one touch system in the butts(rears) of the red and green lion is not only funny but creepy...

  • Haters gonna hat.

  • @edstar83 *e

  • omg!!!

  • Damn those limbs look bastardized...in this case, bigger ain't always better..ahemmm..i'd stick with the Masterpiece or even the Blazing Sword Voltron...bought the Blazing Sword cause it's the first voltron for Mattel..it's a collection piece

  • Good thing I have my Masterpiece and my old original die cast from 1984. This looks cheap and lame.

  • It's good as a toy but as a Voltron, it still has a lot to be desired.

  • Masterpiece Voltron blows this thing away

    MP Voltron FTW!

  • These cheap plastic toys > Not even close to the Voltron lions I had as a kid > >>>>TWO THUMBS DOWN..

  • 0:27 ROFL

  • HOLY SHIT. THAT JUST HAPPENED

  • Use a tooth pic if you loose the key

  • I want one.

  • crap 300 bucks i'd just buy the original metal popy or godaikin version with all the weapons and missiles, least they won't break like this one, why pay so much for plastic, i didn't even get the panosh place cause it was plastic and looks like crap when in voltron form.

  • Ew, cheap plastic AND flimsy spring loaded action?

    Do not want.

  • sucks the original one was way better

  • If this was given to me in the 80s I wouldn't be alive today. I would have died back then from a heart attack.

  • like the video, not the toy

  • I wanted this so bad when I was a kid, but watching it now I'm so glad I didn't. Not as cool as I remembered it

  • Do you need to get the figures

  • I had a couple of the original toys. My parents were too poor or too stingy to buy me all five, so I just had one leg and one arm. :(

  • 23 inches??? They should've just made him 24 inches while they were at it.

  • I use to have the metal one before. Now there made of plastics. The reason why they make toys plastic is because metal toys for kids are to dangerous. Let's change that around. Now they say plastic is no good for are environment. ?!?!...

  • Why the hell do people care so damn much about articulation?! The point of these combining mecha is to, well, combine them, and un-combine them, which is what made the toys popular in the first place!

  • The lack of Die-Cast metal disappoints me.

  • @JRock424 What do you think this is, an S.O.C? Why even expect that from Mattel?

  • Dear santa...

  • I'm not sure if I want this anymore. Thanks for making this video Mattel!

  • hmmm, no articulation just free standing robot...? in my opinion they just super size the original from the 80's and added gimiks... price + a bit of gimiks + super size w/o articulation = not worth it. masterpeice voltron all d way! especially the book edition!

  • I Only have the Black and Yellow Lions From the Old Voltron In the 90s.......:3

  • Masterpiece Voltron deliverd far better in my opinion.

  • @TheForgotenStef30000 I have MP Voltron (die-cast version) and while it's a nice piece, it has zero features and is quite floppy.

  • @Musitards Try the plastic version"Voltron Force Gift Set".

    Faaaaaar better ballance and articaltion.

  • @TheForgotenStef30000 Overpriced gimmickless POS? No thanks. :) And articulation is exactly the same btw...

  • @Musitards I know I meant the plastic one has better ballance then the metal one,but ok it depence on the oinion of people XD

  • Judging by some of the pictures ive seen, it doesnt look like this will be able to do alot of the poses Voltron is famous for, which really blows. Maybe, since this is just a prototype, maybe they will fix some things where it can do more poses such as the double handed sword poses but we will see.

  • Mattel said that the figure would be SUPER top heavy if they went die-cast at this scale. The figure is as heavy as it is. So I guess the toy is justified. Just not the price...

  • i think this is an awesome toy especially the figures and keys and such but its a crapload of money! you could buy a plastic masterpiece voltron for less

  • This JUST announced.

MattyCollector to release a Club Vehicle Force starting in 2013. You'll have to wait two years for ALL 15 VEHICLES of the land, sea, and air team to be released AND it'll end up around $900 plus shipping/taxes/fees.

  • You know, in the 80s, I bet this something kids would kill to have. 5 Lions that have 5 Keys that have 5 pilots. And the lions STILL form Voltron.

Shame that the price is so damn high. If the price were lower and massed produced, I'd hop on it.

  • I will say though the Blazing Sword Voltron is pretty God awesome. Thats a really good figure.

  • And to everyone who is whining about it not look 100% accurate to the anime...not a single Voltron figure has ever done that. Do you know why? because in the anime Voltron did some physically impossible things, like the legs of the lions disappearing, and the black lion's jaw disappearing into nothing. It's kinda hard to recreate that in the real world and still have all the lions come apart and retain movement. All you guys just need to shut the fuck up.

  • @crimsonvampyre602 I gurantee if bandai's SOC were to do Golion, It would be anime accurate if not close. Look at Godmars, Godsigma, and Daltonous. Who would have thought they would be anime accurate. And to be honest, they can always do part swapping for the lions limbs. Theres many of ways to make Voltron anime accurate and to be honest, Toynamis Prototype of the Voltron masterpiece looked pretty damn good. It actually had the White/silver thighs like in the anime.

  • Hey to all the whining idiots out there...you should have seen the photos of him at SDCC...this guy is NOT lacking in articulation. They designed the lions so that when Voltron is fully formed he has a ton of articulation and posability. About as much as the Blazing Sword Voltron if not more. And Sculpt? What the hell is wrong with you people. It's VOLTRON. It looks like Voltron. What more do you want?

  • Yet another HUGE American toy disappointment.

Mattel - if you haven't figured it out yet : Just LICENSE the original toy FROM JAPAN. Popy did it right in 1979.

LJN / WEP got it pretty right with Battle Commander Voltron... in 1984 I might ad. Which followed the mattel way of stripping out the FUN from a Popy release, just like Mattel's Shogun Warriors, to save a buck.

Sorry Matty, but bastardizing Go Lion even further in the name of cheap profiteering for Mattel is not acceptable.

  • $300 dollars for a chunk of plastic

  • All I know is that this thing will bring down the prices on the Toynami voltrons that came out a few years ago. Now that was some cool $h/t!

  • matty, the connection gap between the arms and the body is an eyesore. PLease fix it.

  • @neocrash89 that's cuz your poor.

  • that is just completely STUPID!!!! who would pay all that Money for a CHILD'S toy, this is clearly NOT for collectors since we don't give a ratz-azz about auto-morphin' spring loaded crap!

  • Way overpriced for a Voltron missing a lot of details. And it feels more like a 13 touch transformation instead of the one-touch. Mattel, very weak and lame first attempt. Try much harder next time to produce a quality collectible.

  • @seabiscuitx20 Dead on. And @ $80 a lion - No way.

  • That head sculpt needs to be fixed I think. Right now he has a box head. The Blazing Sword Voltron's head sculpt looks better than this.

  • Yamato's SDF-1 Macross....well worth the $300+.

    This? not even close.

  • Who is the target market for this? Adult collectors want screen accuracy and detail. This looks like a toddler's toy.

  • Whats this a haters convention?

  • New from mattel: SODOMY LIONS.

  • Complete with key to butt-hole action! No thanks. And who is the nimrod who thought that was actually a good idea?!?! Shoving the black lion's feet into the butts of the yellow and blue lion wasn't enough or something? I have always liked Voltron, a lot, but this thing is not worth it. I am disappointed. You let us down Mattel!

  • what the hell is this white shit and wheres the silver you maroons

  • Where is the sword?

  • In order to transform Voltron you have to anally rape your lions much in the same way Matty has been anally raping us for years. Fifteen fucking dollars for a Batman figure....

  • This video doesn't really do the toy justice. It looked amazing at SDCC.

  • (sigh) This Voltron had so much potential. You could have at least put some more detail inside the cockpit. That big gap at the thigh joint doesn't look good either. Less gimmick, more eye to details and sculpt.....

  • he kinda has a derp-face

  • Just when I think Matty can't hate their fans more than they've shown (finding DCUC & the massive screw up that is Digital River) they come out with this.

Matty, do you have enough money? No? Then why are you trying to scare us away w/overpriced toys with shipping/handling/tax charges on every piece?

Everyone, try to find the Masterpiece Metal or Plastic version. Hell, even the old Trendmasters one is better than this wreck.

That much money for such a horrible toy makes Allura sad :(

  • I was really geeked at the prospect of a 23" Voltron but the final product just isn't there. Sorry guys I wanted to love it.

  • hey it the old '80 voltron that had places for figures with the transformers cybertron gimmics. i pass. now the make the new voltron in toys that i buy. i hope it dont suck the whole any lion can be the body and head is a cool concept. and if it didnt cost a butt load this toy might of made me want it.

  • Ahahahah, this is a joke, right?

300$ for a bunch of pointless key gimmicks and terrible proportions at the cost of articulation and a decent sculpt?

I'd never own this, even if it was given to me for free.

  • While I love voltron and golion, $300 is a bit steep for a one trick pony toy set. I paid less than that for most of the Gokaiger DX items and that included shipping from Japan. Sorry, but I'll have to pass.

  • What a piece of shit.

  • Bandai......PLEASSEEEEE make Golion the next entry in the Soul of Chogokin series. GX-62 - Golion PLEASSEEE!! They are the only ones who can make Voltron to how it should be. This is god awful.

  • @hbk1231

YES YES YES! I so agree!

Bandai's Soul of Chogokin + Voltron would be insanely EPIC.

  • very meh

  • Metal Voltron or GTFO.

  • Haha, uumm...is it too late to cancel my subscription? Very cheap looking for the price =(

  • THAT TRANSFORMATION SONG IS ALSO IN ADVENTURE QUEST

  • The figures/ lions and combined Voltron look cool but not sure if its worth $300 or more. I would also much rather just purchase this figure already complete with all the characters and lions at once instead of having 5 different packages with 5 different shipping. I think i will wait till they have a Full set for sale instead. i think $150-$250 should be the price range since it has no diecast parts or any paint applications.

  • gave it a looksee.

    "5 Lions (Red Lion and Green Lion @ $35 each = $70, Blue Lion and Yellow Lion @ $40 each = $80 and Black Lion = $50) plus 5 Pilots (5 @ $15 each = $75) and the Club-exclusive figure (included in sign-up fee = $15) for a total of $290 plus shipping/taxes/fees."

wow. sorry mattel. this ain't worth 300 bucks not to mention the tax/shipping fee for each and every item.

  • Suddenly,Toynami's Voltron Lion Force Gift Set seems a lot more reasonable....

  • @neocrash89 Of course it's not worth $300+, but are people still going to buy it? Indeed.

  • @neocrash89 yep.

  • @neocrash89 damn back in the day you could probably get this for 30 bucks

  • weird, there's large raised buttons on the underside and the butt and yet they're still using the key to push them? i doubt anyone's buying this for their kids so action featuring the toy makes no sense.

  • You put the key on their butts!

  • Perhaps the cheapest looking Voltron ever constructed.

  • i'll admit i'm excited about this, kind of wanted the cleaner new Voltron look but whatever i'm just glad he's back! :-) Does seem a bit lazy to use the key though :-) When you put the old one together it was like a puzzle only special people knew about.

  • Man I think these look amazing. Some of the commenters on here must be the most soulless, bitter husks of human beings ever. The action features look like a ton of fun, these things are HUGE, fit the pilots and will form a humongous Voltron. I think this looks like the coolest thing ever. I really can't wait.

  • Good lord this is terrible. I'm less excited now then I was when I saw the picutres from SDCC. "Hey! We're Mattel and we have no idea how to sell a high-end toy!" "Let's ruin the transformation of the toy buy adding a stupid gimic!"

Have you ever even SEEN the show Mattel? You DO know that you've created a toy where the legs of the lions transform TOTALLY wrong, right? Fix it or don't ship it, please.

  • signed up for Lion Force sub, hope the spring loaded stuff doesn't hinder the articulation!

  • I was so ready to buy this thing..until I SAW it. It looks like an upscaled version of the Matchbox Voltron from the 80's. It almost looks like an expensive knock off to me. Next time I hope the take a pa out of Bandai Japan's playbook and make the next one look more dynamic.

  • I had this toy when I was only 7 years old. One of my favorites. Back then I used to watch Voltron, He-Man, Thunder Cats and G. Force - Not the lame Hamsters, I am talking about the cool G-Force.

  • whoa! you can insert the key in the lions ass!

  • How did COD bring me here???????????

  • I love it! Genius how the keys work!

  • I guess silver paint is expensive these days eh?

  • @insecticon77 no, is toxic!!!

  • @Joseenrike Toxic to their beancounters morelike

  • 1:32 showing how to drop the ball on a product that COULD have been the most "EPIC"interpretation of the figure. I was willing to forgive it being an expensive high end and expensive collectible and not being metal. I was willing to overlook that it was gonna also have plastic limbs and not a trace of die-cast on the legs, OR even a chrome paint job on top of the plastic. But, spring loaded auto transformation on the legs!? Spring loaded head transformation on the head! WTF Mattel!???

  • Perhaps the greatest Voltron ever constructed.

  • @TheSecondEvolution

Not really. Call me when Bandai unveils a Soul of Chogokin.

  • Amazing....will buy one
