  • muy bueno el video, manito arriba :)

  • MY GOD YOUR FINGERS ARE LONG

That is totally a good thing, by the way. My fingers are like stumps.

  • @cocojaixoxo my fingers are not long even though many think so. look at the black keys. see how they are long and narrow? camera distortion :)

  • Nice tutorial, there were some mistakes though.

  • @meltra then specify those for the viewers, thanks

  • And something we all have to remember : the beginning is everything, speed comes later. It is very important not to be harsh on ourselves and that is relaxing our hands and making some piano exercises before we start playing.

(I hope I made myself clear , sorry for my english)

  • Brilliant video, I'm not far away now from playing my favourite song! Finally!

  • Thank you for your great job, I think you're something like an angel <3 I learned poorly to play the piano when I was a child but I never found someone to help me learn it seriously, because of you, to learn to play the piano has become simple and beautiful. Thank you, thank you, thank you ! (And sorry for the TERRIBLE english)

  • I notice that sometimes you are holding down notes (usually the bottom note of a phrase) that is marked as a sixteenth note on the score. I've been having trouble getting the song to sound as smooth on the recording without using the damper pedal (which I knew wasn't right), but yours sounds correct. Is there any logic to which note you're sustaining even though it's not marked that way in the music?

  • I admire your facility, I love your playing the piano

    J.A.B.A.

  • you have helped me out! i thought this song where hard as sh*t but not any more :D thank u so much!!

  • zzzzzzz zzzzzzz zzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzz

  • After one year of playing the piano without being able to read sheet music and without any lessons i might be able to play that dont i? I am able to play half of this song. It is just amazing

  • to all the beginners here who claim to be able to play this song, i'm sure you can play the notes, and im sure you could sit down and play it for us all, but i actually highly doubt you could play it as beautifully as the original composition. this song is very easy to play, but very VERY difficult to play well.

  • @breathehtid I suppose when you say that this song is difficult to be played well, you mean that it's difficult to be played exactly as the original.I think that since this piece is written down in notes with hrythm and marks for pedal etc everyone can play it absolutely well.So to all the beginners,be VERY carefull in playing notes, in what notes you have to hold down in order you expand its sound and the moments you push the pedal.Btw thank you dear lady for being so exact in your playing :)

  • My heartiest congradulations on doing such a great job which will surely helps us to grow interest in playing piano.

  • Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to make this wonderful tuturial. Because of your endeavours I have finally managed to master this piece. I performed this piece during school assembly last week and recieved a standing ovation from both parents and pupils. Thank you once again. I shall now attempt River Flows In You.

  • @74oceanbreeze Thank you for your feedback. My sincere congratulations on your success! I never got a standing O. :) River is much easier, you might master it in one day.

  • yamaha :D

  • Thank you so much! Now it's time to practice, A LOT! :o

  • if you love this, you MUST watch the video of "Let There Be Light "!!... it's a song by rock noir band BELLADONNA and MICHAEL NYMAN and it's based on this music from "The Piano". Michael Nyman himself plays piano on it... search for "belladonna nyman" here on youtube and you'll find it!! :-)

  • Those are some very evident piano hands!

  • you know all the songs of the world , you are fantastic!

i search a song an you know the song!

sorry for my inglish but i'm from chile

  • Thanks for this video!!

This song made me want to play the piano. I just got my piano last friday and never played. After breaking up and studying this video I can play the first 2 minutes of this vid in official speed! .. lot lot lot of hours practicing ..playing 2 hands at the same time is difficult at first.

So thanks a lot...without it I could not have managed this. (don't worry, taking online lessons as well) ;)

    DON'T REMOVE THIS VIDEO!! ;-D

  • @Chrizzy77 i'm concerned about so many beginners learning this as their first piece. it might get pretty frustrating, pick an easy song that you LIKE and learn that at the same time? we all have to build a proper foundation. also watch your posture. get up often and walk around every 15 minutes. sore hands and bad backs are common from playing piano. I don't any of you to harm yourselves from playing the piano. I won't remove it. youtube might?

  • @bbdhrggl I appreciate the concern... and your absolutely right.

In my first dvd lesson a lot of time was spent on talking about posture and I take that very seriously. I would advise anyone to do so. (I'm a physiotherapist as well)

But nevertheless.. I's great that a piece like this motivates a lot of people to go and play this instrument. It makes me want to play again after repeating 'when the saints go.." or "amazing grace" endlessly. ;-)

    Thanks again!..

  • Hi there! I am a beginner and have managed to play the first part of this amazing song by Nyman. I am still practising the second half...

  • @albionbcn wow, this is not an easy song to play. I admire your determination :)

  • ahh this was helpful :) i wasn't sure whether i wasdoing it right but now i know i am :) i just need to tidy it up..i've been playing for less than a year so i'm a bit messy but i'm making good progress :) thankyouuuu

  • THAAAANNNNNNNNKKKKSSSªªªªªª!!!!!!

  • hey there, I love your method. I always love the piano. I was thinking of taking lessons although I am a bit too old...........What level do I have to get to to play a beautiful music such as this one?

  • @500377770 hi, typically five years for this piece... However, a few absolute beginners have cheerfully informed me that they've learned intermediate level pieces.

To experiment with that approach: Use a metronome and practice one or two measures at a time. Set the metronome to the slowest speed that you can play w/o error. Then increase the tempo in tiny increments until you reach the desired tempo. Builds muscle memory.

    P.S. Never too old :)

  • thanks a lot! you have an inconditional fan from Spain! keep uploading!

  • Thank you for the tutorial, you have no idea how much your video has helped me with the finger positions. I am most grateful.

  • @74oceanbreeze Thanks for writing. I'm glad it helped.

  • please help me, i can't find the music sheet for this. i can't keep up with your tutorial but you're great. i really need the music sheet. please, thanks :]

  • @Hilldaya Sorry, I no longer have the sheets. Hope someone will read your comment and help you.

  • @bbdhrggl that's ok. i really hope someone does. :) i learn better wity music sheets, :)thanks again, :)

  • @Hilldaya Hi there, if you still want the sheets I can send you a copy.

  • @albionbcn a mi me irian de lujo!

  • Can you tell me how you play the sustain pedal for this piece. I have the sheet music and it suggests that the sustain is used throughout. If this is the case why do you make so much effort to hold down the melody notes?

    Thanks for the tutorial.

  • @donnelly40 You're welcome. Re the sustain pedal: make sure it is not over-done. Our ears determine when and how long to keep it down. Try experimenting, avoid unpleasant resonance. The held notes are to obey the score. It does make it more difficult but we should try to do what the score says. Occasionally one has to let go to reach the other notes.

  • merci!

  • I LOVE this haha i was playing along to it but im having trouble w/ left hand :/ do you have one for just left hand??

  • @wooitsemily how about covering half the monitor w/paper? ;)

  • Can u do a tutorial 4 the right hand please *-*?

only the right hand :D !

  • @Kattu91 did you check the monkey page for the slowest version? and, how about taping a piece of paper to cover the LH?

  • THX

  • muuuy leento..

  • love ur hands)))

  • Than you... thank you.. thank you... thank you =) I love this song!!* THANK YOU

  • whats Red Repeat? Do you mean the first part you played?

  • @musicindisguise one of the "repeat" words must have been in red

  • Is this a very repetetive song?

Like there are clues or uh.. orders to it? Not really all different notews all the time.. ?

  • oh i'm so sorry, i thought the song would start with another passage... now i hear the melody of couse.

but anyway, please try to teach it like in the video i showed you :)

  • hm, i love this song and i really wanna learn it, but i can't even hear the main melody in this slow version. i concentrated on the notes you played esecially loud with your right hand, but still i don't hear the melody... sry, but i dont like this torturial! i'd like you to show how to play the song like it is tought in this video eg.

  • thanks for posting this!!
