so absolutely difficult to pick a favorite with these songs. love early stuff like it's no secret. coming up the years. love the fulton st album. guess they lived there? san francisco?
95% of teens these days listen to the same crappy pop songs over and over. if your one of the 5% left who still listen to real music, thunb this up, then copy and paste it to least 5 video's. DONT LET THE SPIRIT OF ROCK&ROLLDie
@DrugsRasta I admire your musical tastes, but the truth is there are many modern day artists who are making equally satisfying music to that of the days of yore. They may not be in the limelight, but they are out there.
You say [Some artist that's currently popular], I say [An artist that was popular in the past]
(Repeat to show you know lot's of bands)
A [made up high number]% of teens listen to the same crappy pop music. If your (spelt wrong to show how much soul you have) one of the [100 - number from before]% left who still listen to music that I like because I think it makes me cool then yada yada no one cares...
This song seems to be a prelude (not quaalude) to the inevitable breakup of the Jefferson Airplane. Is that a statement from Captain Obvious or what. Great album all around, you can hear 3 different bands in this release, and the best part about it is, they all continued on to make great music for my archives. It was sure great to have been a fan of them while this was going on. *wipes tears from eyes*
@stillustronic Yep. Jorma definitely knew that the band was on its last legs. Of course, the first sign was when Spencer Dryden left and when Marty left that was it. They pretty much were running on fumes at that point.
Brought here by the move My Architect, about Louis I. Kahn, a wonderful song for a wonderful film. Thank you Prof. Susannah Honrg, NYU Liberal Studies Program
An interesting, to me, what if: What if the band had stayed together? Oh, they all worked and wrote and performed for years afterward and we may think they produced everything they _could_ have. But they were so huge as the Airplane and there was so much talent in that band.
Jorma apparently writes songs in the middle of the night, and doesn't remember recording them/writing them down in the morning...this was one of those...amazing!
@D3f11 word. I think it's because of the dynamic of Grace's bitter and Jorma's sweet tone of voice (I mean their voice specifically for this song, not in general, to be sure).
The Title is referring tot he length of time the band ahs been together and comparing it to a stay in chelsea for three weeks. The song as well as the title are about the band coming apart , the parting of the members, and its break up.
An old friend of mine lived half his life in the Chelsea Hotel and eventually died there as well. The Chelsea was sometheing else back in the late 60's/early 70's. Jorma brings it all back with this song. Thanks for posting!
been want'n to hear this song for years. Even tried programming it on Pandora, but it NEVER plays there. THANKS FOR POSTING! Now I'm gonna listen to it again...........
I sometimes go 2 a meditation center which is, believe it or not, on the 7th floor of the Chelsea Hotel, and I look and listen 4 that 'room that whistles like a sigh".
To take a miserable situation and create something of beauty; that's art.
