Led Zeppelin's "Rock And Roll" was inspired by this song. According to guitarist Jimmy Page during recording for the band's fourth album "IV", out of boredom John Bonham began playing the drum intro of this song and then the rest of the band began playing what would soon become "Rock And Roll". The two do sound very much alike but then again this is how Rock And Roll is suppose to be played. The original American way!!!!
This is not the original version as appeared on the album with this cover. I've owned this album since 1969 and believe me I know every nuance of the original.
@waitwuut I didn't say all of that... Race is not an issue. Talent is! Pat Boone kind of sucked the life right out of Little Richard's songs. All of these people "borrowing" his music and not paying for it drove him to insanity. I think anyone would have been mad
I love Little Richard. He basically invented Rock and this song is mighty hard charging for the era. I mean take the horns out and put in guitars and you have a hard rock song of today. He is cool. Happy Holidays Timo!
@maryssim I wish u the same, buddy. Have some great Christmas Days and also have a great start in the year 2011. And dont forget to litsten that music ;)
@maryssim no no, please leave the saxes in there. i've been listening to this for 50 years and it still defines rock music. those saxes are the rock in the roll. many of the great rock guitar soloists of the past 50 years were influenced by saxophone players, e.g., John Coltrane, King Curtis, Gene Ammons, and many more (Many More was damn good). The Stones had horns from late '60s to mid '70s. Even Bud Powell, the greatest pianist of 20th c., developed bop piano by emulating the sound of horns.
It's been so long since I rock and roll'd....

Do you guys know why He is singing so wild and fast?
waitwuut 3 months ago
@waitwuut He did it so that people like Pat Boone couldn't "borrow" his song. He sang so wildly that they simply could not keep up...
Tattles94 2 months ago
@Tattles94 Yup, he sang so fast that the white singers didnt keep up with him
