  • I like the free style, bluesy funk. A little sloppy, so that makes it great.

  • brilliant , captured the spirt beautifully

  • brilliant

  • i like the guitar work a-lot

  • Love it.

  • brilliant...

  • Nice playing! Although I have to disagree about light strings being "unmusical" and an "insult" to any "decent" player (for the record, I don't play light strings). They sound brighter and have more definition than heavier gauge strings - just because they're easier to play doesn't necessarily mean that they have less musicality; they just have a different tone. Although I believe it is just lazy to play light gauge because of the ease of play, rather than because you prefer the sound.

  • What tuning are you in?? did you use a tab for this?? or just mess around??

Capo?.. i'd love to learn this tune similar to the way you've played it here

  • killer version man... love the intro

  • VERY NICELY DONE.

  • Great job man. Way to make it your own while still respecting the original.

  • Seriously, great version, but no one cares about your face. Next time, try and film the fretboard!

  • @lptomtom Thanks, and, sorry. A lot of the time these vids come from me just setting a camera down wherever's convenient and jamming. I can't ever play something the same way twice, so if I look at it after a good take and the camera has shifted, not much I can do. That's a good idea though, maybe I'll post a version where I don't worry so much about the take, but make sure to show my hands clearly.

  • This guy should be killin the bar scene

  • @rhcp500 Thanks - knockin' on doors ain't my style though. I'm here, let the bookers come to me. :-)

  • love the bluesy feel of this. Great cover man.

  • @Alkali64 Cheers, man, glad you enjoyed.

  • Whoever this cat endorses for president.......I'll vote fer em

  • @sirtom68 Anybody except a major-party candidate. Please, never vote for a Democrat or Republican. That's all I ask.

  • sweet! put up a lesson dude

  • @JJShiffler Thanks, I know, I gotta do that. One of these days....

  • This is so creative.........a stimulating version and interpretation of a classic........ I really wish you could film a version of this where the audience could see your left hand/fingers and fret etc. It would be wonderful for the guitarists out here to be able to see what you are doing and learn from you. Keep following your muse.

  • @shaconage Thanks for the kudos. Yah, someone latter in the comments thread said the same thing... camera placement is kind of a haphazard affair in my world. I might have to do another take of this where everyone can see what I'm doing, though.

  • Excelent!!!

  • anyone ever tell you that you kinda look like a chubby Tiny Tim?

  • @musicforchewfaygs Regrettably, yes. I gotta get back to the gym.

  • Cool cover! Wish the camera included the guitar.

  • @Scuddog999 Thanks! Gonna redo it at some point to fix that.

  • I saw you mentioned fat old sun in the description, you should check out my cover. Great job on this one, I love re-imaginings of songs. Whats the point of a cover if you play it exactly like the original?

  • @EquivocationOverload Mmmmmm. You did justice to Fat Old Sun. That song is so gorgeous. I gotta ask, what is that place you guys film in? Have you got a whole empty house to play in or something?

  • hey, you like mcdonalds too?

  • great take.... I get some irate comments on my simple cover of this song also. I thot yours was fantastic. something about this song, people are offended by a cover that is not an exact replica of meddle. i don't get it. it's a song. fuck. you like a song, you have a guitar, you play the song. why do people care how you play it?

that was amazing man. my only regret is can't see your fingers on the guitar.

  • @bluegrassbarry Thanks! That's a frequent request on this video in particular. If I wasn't so drunk, I'd film a version right now with the focus on my hands. But I gotta throw on some Outer Limits and crash... I will post a version with the fingers in full view, though.

  • the song is meh. hair is epic.

  • @WillyFeelerbusch Your honesty is appreciated. I love what you do.

  • Amazing!!!Fantastic!!!!

    Awesome!

  • @BeneProductions I live for compliments... thanks!

  • xD nice ^^

  • @azvazva Glad you enjoyed!

  • hey man you got good stuff, im sure people would be more aprreciatin if they saw this in person rather than a tiny screen. dont try to be a youtube hit, go for it the real way =]

  • @achurch123 The kudos are much appreciated...

Yeah, I'm kinda hoping someone will see me on here and offer me a gig!!

  • I thought a spaceship will land at the beggening, lol

guitar playing is weird and beautiful, really nice.....

  • @gottslavey Heh. The eagle has already landed!

  • you really feel it...good

  • @Erikkkkkkkkkkkkk Thanks... feel is what it's all about.

  • Sick cover bro. I really enjoyed it. thanks :)

  • @a442157 Thanks for saying so... always great to hear someone enjoys one of my jams. Cool.

  • Funniest thing I've seen all week. So wrong, and yet right, in a weird way. My cup of tea.

  • @willbond You clearly Get It. (Or, Got It, sorry for the incredibly late reply.) Thanks!

  • don't listen to the idiots. some people just don't get it. this was a cool, bluesy interpretation.

  • @bhawksfan4vr Thanks. It's cool, man. I get way more positive comments than negative, and if someone's opinion is honest, I respect it either way. I'm just on this to have fun.

  • dude, listenin to this makes me want to turn off my computer and pick up my guitar!!!! iam really diggin the blues runs, by far the most original cover of fearless that i've ever herd!!!

  • @lizardkingvoodookid >" listenin to this makes me want to turn off my computer and pick up my guitar!!!! "

That is the single biggest compliment you could pay me. Thanks!!!

  • hey man thats whats up. make it your own for every song.... love the blues runs lol

  • COOL!!!!

  • smashing !

  • Wow. You are good!

  • Great version!! Many interpretations... Very blue grass? no?

  • If you had a better voice I could even say I like this version better hahaha.

    Reaallyy Nice

  • Nice. i like the classic blues ending. I don't know how to explain this but upon my 1st listening, you make me think of Micahael Hedges playing the blues with Pink Floyd lyrics. (I'm aware Pink Floyd and blues aren't always a big stretch).

  • Very cool.

  • That is some fine picking brotha! Loved it!

  • The cover sounds great. I thought it was interesting though how you take positive and negative criticism in stride. I'm sure the eight-track upside the head had something to do with it. :) Keep it up. Do what you do. It's original.

  • I really had to listen to it 5 times in order to make my mind up. Yea I like it, 5 Stars man.

To those people that posted that Fearless was the best track on the Meddle Album.

What about " One of These Days" and the epic "Echoes" ?

  • Interesting.....I enjoyed that....good job!

  • i like when ppl do their own things rather than copy what somone has done . its dope he made it bluesy

  • Dont try to reinvent perfection. You can do what you want; but this shit is too much for someone who gives a shit about retaining the value of something beautiful.

  • Thanks for commenting. Note-for-note covers aren't my thing, I view a song as part of a dialogue, or like a bank canvas. Sorry you didn't enjoy it.

  • It's not that I didn't enjoy it. It just got too bluesy. It wasn't intended to be that way.

  • No, it definitely wasn't :-) although in my own mind, I always heard a bluesy element added, owing to peculiarities in my brain chemistry due to getting thunked on the head by a Blind Willie Johnson 8-track tape when I was very young. So for my take on it, I just played it out the way I heard it.

  • Many of the songs I play, I stray far from the original on. It's congenital (owing once again to that 8-track injury.)

  • So much torque and vitality there...its almost explosive!

  • Which one is Pink???

    ROFL!!!

  • Would be interesting if all changes between verses and chorus weren't screwed up. There a way of being creative and beat respectful at the same time.

  • Sorry you didn't like it. I guess we have different ideas about what it means to be respectful. Pink Floyd is far and away my favorite band, and I like to illuminate different things that I hear in songs sometimes.

  • I dont htink you need to copy the changes perfectly to make beautiful orignal music. After all, it seems the way music progresses through history is based upon the fact that people steal other peoples ideas and put a twist on them and make them their own.... maybe youre just jealous?

  • What a great cover . 5 star from a Turkish Cypriot guy....

  • Huge thanks from San Francisco!!

  • nice, very very nice

  • man!!!! that might be the best cover of ANY song Ive ever seen!!!any more?? i have some tunes on here under judesdadE..cheers man and kudos 2 u

  • Wow, very high praise from a fellow floyd fan! Thanks! check my channel... I don't think I have any more Floyd posted, but there's about 24 vids in all.

  • That was a hell of a cover there.

  • nice burns!

  • nice fiddlin bro. yeah

  • Cool but not the same without the Kop in the background.

  • Great job on your bluesy version!! I love this song! I just heard Govt Mule play it live not too long ago. Smokin'!

  • killer new twist to this tune. nice work.

  • Fearless as frightening blues hybrid! I love it

Shame Gilmour didn't do this with the recently deceased Rick Wright on his recent tour, tho he did do songs like Wots uh the deal from Obscured by clouds..

The best song on the album (Meddle) by a country mile!!

Gilmour did a cover of Remember a day on Jools Holand after Ricks passing btw

  • Scary!!!

  • Ooooooooooooooh! Crazy!

  • Very cool man. Probably my favorite Pink Floyd song and this version breathes new life into it. It's cool to see someone playing with a lot of feeling you know?

  • Nice, it smokes.

  • great playing -- made it your own, the way it ought to be.... oh, and nice mutton chops ;)

  • Guitarist in progress??? You've arrived mate. Phenomenal playing! Thanks for posting.

  • its really a psychedilic johnny cash-pink floyd mix!!!

need sometime to to deal with that strange vibes ur sending(hahha)

  • cool & musicial. ur the best jammer! cool song choice. 5* (for whatever that's worth).

  • Worth quite a lot, man, it makes my night. Thanks.

  • Very cool, always liked this tune. Thanks for sharing!

  • Someone once said to me, "We are artists! We have a responsibility to share our unique sense of beauty with the world!" To which I said, "You're a crazy frenchwoman, and old enough to be my grandmother! Stop groping my thigh!"

But that aside, thanks, man. You know your opinion means a lot.

  • love the mutton-chops mike .... et. al.

    heart and soul.... kid.

  • Hey, thanks Meri. Looks like I'll be seeing you in a few days!

  • TOTALLY AWESOME, YOU TOTALLY ROCK!!!

  • AWESOME AS USUAL, THANKS FOR POSTING

  • Great! good sound and nice singing :D

  • One of my favorite songs by the Floyd

in open G I believe - the note carried up the fretboard is rather like whats done during "Welcome to the Machine" on the Eminor part (played on the D string - 2nd fret to 4th to 5th to 7th) - I usually dampen the 'B' note held at the 2nd fret on the A string than to try to play the complete chord!

  • he he nice to see you again btw great cover your playing is superb, love your energy :)

  • Your guitar has a great tone. Your playing is also very good sounding.

  • Thanks. Yeah, it's got that dark tone... if that guitar was a beer, it'd be a porter. I like to say, it sounds like it's 1/4 Dobro on it's mother's side.

  • Sounds great man....love that navigation guitar.

    Soild cover....faved this one....

It's been a while since i last came to your page...glad i came back...stay in touch man.

  • Thanks for the fave, man, glad you liked it. Yeah, life got hectic for a few months, but I want to get back into posting more regularly. You'll see me ;-)

  • awesome great to have you back with videos

  • damnit bro i blame you for me not getting work done today!!!i just went thru and watched most of your vid.s...i LOVE the blues man, and hope to play my guitar like you someday. you can tell when you play most of the time that your improvising and that just blows me away that you can just wing it like that and with the feeling you put into it shit like that brother gives me goosebumps...you truelly inspire me thank you...what kind of guitar is that?and strings?

  • "you truelly inspire me"

That is the single biggest compliment you can give. All it takes is love man, you just gotta keep playing, whenever, however.

I just put some info in the video description about the guitar/strings since a few people asked, you can have a look at that for the gory details.

  • i am envious of your guitar playing...reimagined...reinvented...great

  • Cool, nothin' like a cozy little mutual admiration society! :-)

  • lol yea for sure bro!

  • Hey, nice way to play it!!! One of my favourite Floyd tracks. If I get around to taping it I'll send you my version (in Open G)

    Cheers from downunder

  • Yeah, this is in open G, as well. Love to see your version!

  • The guitar has a great tone and you bring it out nicely!

  • Thanks, man. Yeah, she's my baby, a Simon & Patrick handmade cutaway dreadnought... those Canadians really know some things about building guitars.

I first saw it across a crowded showroom and fell in love. Then spent three days playing every decent acoustic in every music store in the city of Seattle, just to make sure. There was no equal. It's been hearts & flowers ever since.

  • The tone just grabs you by the throat!

  • ol boy is gettin DOWN! Need to see the hands though bro!!!

  • Yep, I know... see my addition to the video description.

  • That is you all the way... nice touch... would be nice to see the guitar work as well, next time... guitarworkprogressing very well...

  • Thanks, vc30... yeah, maybe after this has been up a while I'll post one of the later takes where I actually had the camera positioned properly.

  • Ah man... there are moments of sheer guitar brilliance in there. Lawdy!

    Thanks for sharing it.

  • And thank you for the compliment! Glad you liked it.

  • still rockin !! glad to get a vid from you.

  • lol dont worry bout the vocals man, just keep jamin on that guilt feather. thats tha shit. lovin tha pickin. i havnt really devoted any time to making any vids. but i will hook you up with some of my pickin later maybe, cya ~jacob ps- acoustics rock!

    Peace,

    Debi

  • great :)

  • Excellent playing

  • Great job, really glad you're posting videos again! I would have tried to position the camera so we could see both of your hands though...

  • I know. Sometimes I get a good take when I'm just fucking around or haven't found good camera placement yet... after I saw how this came out, I did a bunch more takes of this with the camera positioned so you could see my hands, but couldn't come up with another performance I liked as much.
