Studies have shown that the total energy in a lightning strike is only a few hours of light for a small neighborhood. Add to that, there are no currently practical methods to store the energy.
Its brilliant....we need a new energy source, obviously oil and coal are on their way out...one bolt of lightning is equal to ten million barrels of oil...we harness lightning and...well you do the math
@HxCSurfFL You're right to a certain extent. Lightning has MUCH more voltage than amps, the air that it travels through is an insulator after all. The trick is to create a transformer that can handle variable voltage (250k- 1million volts) and convert it to something useable. As an electrician the main issues I see are surges : /. Current transformers cant handle it, the wires can, maybe insulation on wires. The transformers.... No idea how they could :(.
could be a great way to manipulate where it rains, not sure if there's any proof yet, but considering molecular spin velocity is one of the reasons the water vapor can even be up there, spending the heat from a cloud with an initiated discharge, should decrease their spin enough so as to make the water simply fall back to Earth out of the sky.
The université Laval was doing that at least three years ago. Some Americans picked up on it, because it gives the possibility of wireless tasers. Star Trek, anyone?
