What do you actually have to do with your throat to be able to produce an overtone? I keep trying, but I'm only producing one note or just pronouncing a loud muffled "L". HELP PLEASE!

this is not music, this is annoying sounds, i don't care if its a chant from tibet or whatever, it's just really really annoying to listen to and i have no idea why people find it so awesome!
@ElfishPowers Because when he produces the sound it iritates the throat. That's the only difficult part to overcome with throatsinging, but over time and practice it'll actually strengthen the throat.
Hey there. Would you know how the Tibetan monks train for their style of overtone chanting ?
For an example of the kind of chant i mean, search ''Avalokiteshvara - Mantra of Compassion'' and skip the first 2 minutes.
That's a master chanter there, so I know one doesn't sound like that on day 1, but I've been practicing for weeks now (with different styles of overtone) and can't manage to get close to that lower style, without my throat getting sore after 5-10 mins..
Hi, I've been told many diff methods by monks - some of them pretty extreme so I would recommend using my exercises for Kargyraa style from Youtube or my tuition book & CD from the website. You will need to push through the irritation as you need to learn to trigger vocal chords and then relax to allow the laryngeal folds to take over instead. Regards, J
im finding it difficult to immitate your techniqes, i have improved remakably with practise, i will just keep at it and soon hopfully ill be didging along nicely

"this is not music, this is annoying sounds"
This is the root of music, the overtone scale... and it sounds fine to me. If you are too narrow minded to appreciate it, that's your fault.
If you don't enjoy it, fine, but saying it's not music is ridiculous. Who are you to decide that?
Obviously someone with no real appreciation for music, but plenty of ego.

khoomey doesn't mean throat singing, u crazy..
I don't tell nothing about your overtones only that u need LOT OF MORE PRACTICE..ur overtones don't have control and they're not bright or clear..
Kargyraa doesn't match NOTHING with Tibetan monks singing, it's a completely different tech with different resonators.
Study practice and learn before posting OVERTONES lessons on net, teaching wrong things to the people.
U r using western style, but i think u ignore that..incredible..
