Antique Tube Radios Repaired, Restored & Sold

Beautiful radios! I recently inherited one from my grandpa, a 1938 Detrola. The radio powers up, but the stations come in with a low sound. I noticed there is a small 5 inch cable with a copper wire tip hanging from the chassis. As I live in a high rise, could I use one of those passive loop antennas that you put beside the radio to boost the signal? Or would it have to be connected to the copper wire? Thanks!!

Great Radios! I have a couple of the ones you have pictured. I have one RCA AM Shortwave large table model that I am waiting to get the money to have restored. It was one made in Canada by RCA, and looks great. It looks like a baby wooden console, as it is so large for a table model. Can't wait to get it going again!

I had an RCA 9K, magic eye, short, medium, long wave and standard broadcast. Mint condition.

Kinda wish I'd kept it but no local radio stations play vintage music.

Leo Fender drew heavily on the RCA for his guitar amplifiers. Before the era of telecasters, stratocasters, and rock and roll. Leo Fender was a Radio Repairman

at his shop at 107 S. Harbor Boulevard.

That's a nice collection of radios. I have some vintage radios. I have two floor model Zenith radios, one from 1939 and the other 1940's The 1940's I tried rewiring, and got something wrong. I don't have a schematic so I have not been able to find the error. I have a table model Zenith from 1940. I replaced the electrolytic capacitor in it, and it works just fine. The 1939 console works ok , but I think it also needs the electrolytic capacitor replaced.

That's quite a collection of radios I have some vintage radios. I have two Zenith console radios. One is a 1939 and the other 1940's. The 1940's I rewired and got something wrong, but I don't have a schematic so I haven't been able to determine what I did wrong. Since then I watch a little closer when rewiring or replacing caps.
