Ohio's favorite sons, saw them in Athens at Baker Center as a student at Ohio Univ. in the late 70's, the place was out of control. Seeing them, Pure Prarie League, and the Vinton County Frog Whompers, makes it a special Athens County Tri-fecta for me. McGuffey also played at McCutchenville, Ohio (Scutch) in the 80's with my cousins band 'Eagle Creek", from my hometown Arcadia, Ohio.
They are in concert tonight Jan 23 at the LC in Columbus. The LC is located opposite Nationwide Arena on Neil Ave. Doors open at 7 General admission is $15
Ruby Tuesdays in the early 70s! I used to hang out there nightly and saw Mcguffey Lane in 1974-75. I worked as a cook at the Wine Cellar and ended the night at Ruby Tuesdays with the rest of the cooks wait staff. Saw them at Zacs in the late 70s and one more time in the early 80s in Nashville. Great band and great times.
Wow, those are some great memories. If you are in the Columbus area Jan 23, I hope you can join us at Promowest Pavilion for the Zachariah's Red Eye Reunion show which sells out every year. 3,000 McGuffey Lane fans and we would love to see you!! Thanks for sharing what were some daring memories. Lol
Geeze, does anyone else out there remember when they played Ruby Tuesday's up on Summit Ave in Columbus back in the early '70's? We used to go there all the time to see them before they had their first album!! I still love 'em! I wish they'd come to Seattle! Seattle would love 'em too!!
I was at the concert in Dayton the night before Tebes Douglass was killed . . . his high energy and playing was a show in itself . . . I feel the band was put to rest with him . . . they really was flying high before he passed and they never recovered from that tragedy
I would give my eye teeth to see a video of the original McGuffey Lane . Seen them at Hara , Dayton Courthouse Square , Preble County Fair . . . all in the early 80's . . . I was to young to see them at the Lost Sea in Versailles Ohio and they played there a lot in those days . Awesome Band that made Ohio prowd . Seen the new Mcguffey just a few years back in Versailles ( Poultry Days ) . . . just not the same energy as the old days .
I love McGuffey Lane. They used to play at the Aquanaut in Wellsville Ohio. I still have all my albums. They were awsome. Its to bad they were overcome by tragedy. They really could have made it big. So many great songs!
After the release of Aqua Dreams, a local record store booked McGuffey Lane to play in Parkersburg,WVa. Our band, Dealer's Choice, had the priviledge of opening for them. I had just joined Dealer's Choice two weeks prior and was really nervous about the gig. EVERYBODY in ML were so friendly and made us feel at ease playing with them. Dave Rangeler just purchased a new Slingerland drumset and told me that I could play our set on his kit-man, was I flyin' high! Thanks guys for the awesome memory!
