  • "No way" u can get better than this. Les Paul and Telecaster combo.

  • i mean this kinda sums up his position in the the law suit that comes in like 8-10 years, he is finally saying fuck this you can try to dominate all you want but no where in the contract does it say anyone has to let you. man i always realize things about lyrics after like a million plays.

  • VERY under rated, and I own it :D

  • i grew up with his music and he's just a little too young to be my grandfather!

but everytime i listen to him, ohhhhh myyyyyy goosshh,

    i need new pants/panties

  • gilmour is like the best ever

aside from his ability hes so humble

does that make me gay if i love him ?

  • @PinkGilmourFloyd no i don't think it makes you gay,

    who couldn't love David Gilmour???!!!

  • This man is a pimp. Still to this day. Even though he's old enough to be my father, I grew up with his music and his voice, and I'd so...*blush*

  • David Gilmour's extreme beauty in this video totally distracts from the music!!! ;-)))) Nice to see bro Mark Gilmour on our left.

  • @IsisTiamat thank you! On our left - I get it and see him more clearly now. Thanks.

  • Nice beautiful blues

  • i ♥ david gilmour

  • pink floyd and the solo work of the members sends shivers up my spine. you know they're a good band if they touch you like that. Comfortably Numb, the inside story of pink floyd and Nick Masons book inside out are amazing reads. highly recommended

  • thank you for such a rare recording ,man!

  • he is a genius, genius & again ... genius !!!

  • David's brother (Mark Gilmour) at the guitar!

  • @cosimomazzotta valuable info, thanks for pointing that out. I heard a long time ago he had a guitar-playing brother.

  • @cosimomazzotta who the blond or the brunette? Or is it the lighting? Is the blond a bass player?

  • is there anywhere i can download this live album, because its unreal

  • I play guitar in Brazil, for fun with friends. Sometimes we come together to make a noise, and the table of discussions, we talked about guitarists, but when it comes to Gilmour, everything is complicated. kkkk. All guitarists are half lost when trying to define it. The Blues, and jazz, and rock. It is very complicated. Congratulations Guilmour. Its function as a musician is not to be explained, and yes, charm the ear, and nothing more.

  • Gilmour, your guitar.... anymore... no more questions! Simple, short an pratic.... I could not, in all these years as a fan of Floyd, explain what kind of musician is Gilmour. Frankly, there are so many influences of sound, which is difficult to know what is this guy. VADILSON - BH - BRAZIL

  • @PLAYMOBIL2008 i totally agree :)

  • tesfan.....maybe you can hold Waters higher as a lyricist...but not as a musician. What made the Floyd who they were was the genius of Gilmour and Wright. This is proven over and over again when you look at the failure of the "Waters centric" The Final Cut as well as his solo albums in comparison to the success of anything Gilmour has put his name to. Waters has great ideas and lyrics and thats why his name is on everything but he isnt a musician....and its the music that we all love.

  • @tmpp92584 u r wrong roger is a fucking outstanding musician

  • Well both songs are in D minor so there are similar chords and progressions. He is a blues man though so he can write 50 songs in D minor all different and great in their own way.

  • Right! :)

  • I am love with this complete album and this one is my fav....

  • Is it possible to buy DVD? I saw VHS only... in amazon

  • He so looks like my ex husband, it's frightening ! Lol

Just kidding, it's not frightening, just very striking. Both are good guys :-) & this post is a Gem!

    Thanks again

  • Hate me if you want but I have always held Roger Waters above David Gilmour. Waters' lyrics beat the shit out of most of Gilmour's. But notice I say "most." I just heard this song now and well I have to say I am thoroughly impressed. I have listened to this entire album now and in my opinion it is one of the best solo albums ever made!!!

    Oh and Nick Mason rules!!!!!!

  • When they were in their prime, we didn't care about who wrote the lyrics or music, we just enjoyed the whole PF experience. But I feel the entire band was great together and seperately as well.

  • I think even David at this time knew the Floyd was over and it was his way of saying it is over but at least 2 songs David wanted on this album appeared on the Wall due to time constraints and they happened to become Comfortably Numb and Run Like Hell 2 classic songs but I wish David would play them as he originally wrote them I would love to hear them

  • I think it's a shame that he didn't bring any of his solo work from this time on his On An Island tour...

  • This song and "Cry from the street" is a long time favorite of mine.

    Didn't know there's a live version, thanks!

("About Face" was no near this album!)

  • I think David tried to "give" this one to Pink Floyd, for The Wall project back then, and Roger of course turned it down. ^^

  • It actually has the same chords as the Another Brick In The Wall. Isn't that a bit confusing? This song was written first.

  • whats does it matter

he gunna take himself to court?

  • Just an example of the way about your life

  • Coz it's my show... the writing was on the wall.

  • I won't go down easy, that's not my style

  • Young King David, what a trip back into time. This soulful song just Roxx !!!

  • great perfomance but im kinda choked he didnt play the awesome slide solo.

  • Sounds like he still used the Fuzz Face like in Pompeii then! Like the sound :)

  • nah. this is a big muff for sure. ram's head big muff.

  • Comment removed

  • "NOTHING like experiencing The liberty"!!! Words of GILMOUR in some interviews in 1978. The sound of DAVID GILMOUR 1978(this album) confirm this declaration.

  • Awesome vid. Especially because you can see him playing on his Esquire Tele..awesome!

  • I saw an article that David played this song on May 25th for a charity benefit in London and got a standing "O". I hope so, he deserves standing "O"s for the work he does with these charities, and for years of great performances.

  • I believe someone posted some clips of that event.

  • to each new video than it is to attends, about GILMOUR, is a new surprise. This song does have something particular, specially your "blues touch". GILMOUR is a privileged by the gods. Great musician, and great melody creator. - VADILSON - BELO HORIZONTE - BRASIL

  • yep, a great one...what a great frigging tune.

  • ok is there a dvd or tape of this for sale someplace? i have been trying to find it, but can't. i only see dvds of his '84 and 2006 performances. can someone help please?

  • I'm trying to find it too, I don't know where else to look. Thank God for You tube

  • CD is simply titled David Gilmour. Produced by David Gilmour. I have it. It's absolutely awesome. 1978

  • haha i have the cd. i meant i wanted a video of the concert

  • i donwloaded from eMule the video but is not a dvd; the full show is 700MB (aprox.) so quiality is quite bad

  • For those who don't know, there IS a meaning behind this song. When he did this solo album in 78, he and Roger Waters were already fighting hard for who would be the top dog in Pink Floyd. Waters had been in the band before Gilmour, but we all know Gilmour became the "VOICE AND GUITAR OF PINK FLOYD".

Gilmour's later tune" You Know I'm Right" (from "About Face"), was also directed at Waters, after Waters left the band.

Gilmour is still the greatest guitarist alive, IMHO....

  • Columbia Records (David Gilmour's record label here in the US as of 1974 with both Pink Floyd and solo) in fact first referred to David Gilmour as "THE VOICE AND GUITAR OF PINK FLOYD" as the catchphrase to promote his 1978 solo album on the promo posters for the album (see eBay). I still say his 1978 solo debut is his best solo album (On an Island is close in second). Tracks like this one here, "There's No Way Out of Here", "Mihalis" and "Short and Sweet" make the album a must own.

  • Cry from the Street never gets mentioned as a great song on the album, blues and Animals mixed in.

  • thank you so much for posting all these! i wasn't even born till 5 years after this, so its great to watch these recordings. (although they do make me wish i was older0 this song is amazing! my favorite on the album!

  • great musician, absolutely wonderful!

  • He is magnificent in every way.

    Great song! beautiful man!

    Gilmour I love you

  • Hypnotic guitar riff. :)

  • another classic gilmour song and you can tell it is truly gilmour at his best

  • Great performance & song from the man himself. I've never seen this concert for sale in this country (UK), is it available on DVD or video?

  • This performance (as well as "There's No Way Out of Here", "Mihalis", "So Far Away" and "I Can't Breathe Anymore") was filmed as a promo by David Gilmour's US label Columbia Records (Harvest/EMI did nothing for the album) to use on shows popular in pre-MTV like Don Kirshner's Rock Concert and Midnight Special plus it aired on the UK's Old Grey Whistle Test in December, 1978. The album reached #29 on the Billboard chart in 1978 and went Gold (means it sold over 500,000 copies) here in the US.

  • One of the most underrated records of all time...absolute genius!

  • a pure master of his craft good to see the chains of pink broken to see the talent that is DAVID GILMOUR

  • Great tune. Best Gilmour solo album hands down. I remember picking this up on cassette in March of 1988 for $5 as part of CBS Records' Nice Price series of albums after hearing There's No Way Out of Here on WZLX in Boston. That track plus this, Mihalis and So Far Away are my favorites on the album. The remastered CD has extended endings which were originally cut down for vinyl constraints. Love the fade out of this on the remaster.

  • LOVE HIM!
