  • Is that one of the temp holes at Standing Rocks in Stevens Point, WI, about 20 seconds into the clip?

  • Wait.. so let me get this straight... disc golf is NOT a real sport?

  • Being as poor of a sportmans Feldberg is I find it funny at the end of the video when he's talking about fouling a guy in basketball to win.

  • Walter Frederick Morrison invented the frisbee, give credit where credit is due!

  • @SoDNINJA You are right. I should have included him in the video. I said "the man who invented the Frisbee," I should have said the man behind the popularization of the Frisbee.

  • Ed Hedrick did NOT invent the frisbee.. How could someone in the small community of disc golf get that wrong?! Thats pathetic

  • Great documentary. I'm gonna show it to everyone I can and get some more people out on the courses. I've already got my dad out there throwing. It's been fun to share the sport with family and friends.

  • @arudolph22 Yes. Please show it to everyone. The sport will grow and we'll all have more courses to play on. Thanks for the post!

  • Sweet looking course. Check out flip city in michigan tho. Its the shit. best course ive ever played on by far.

  • @ironmikez1 move to St. Louis we have 20+ free courses and 90% are awesome!

  • I wish someone would tell the State of Maine about Free Courses, not a single one in the State! $5 minimum to play, some places are asking $8-$10 which I do realize isn't much at all but, who doesn't love "Free"?

  • Where are the women players? You could have put at least a couple of clips from a women's event.

  • @GreenBeansMcGee You're right. I should have shown some ladies playing. It is a sport for everyone. I was under a tight deadline when I made this video. I missed the Women's event. Next video I'll make it a point.

  • @goodnews907 Thanks!!!

  • Yeah Nate! Work on those cut rollers, lol.

  • @aarikc17 Yeah, Nate is the man!

  • great lil doc, all i wanna do is go huck some discs!!!

  • @spacinmason14 Thanks for the post! I had fun making this. Watch for part two this summer.

  • 1:34 Foot Fault

  • Thanks for making this! Great video. I moved out of the US three years ago, and I miss the Austin, Texas Disc Golf community greatly. I shared some amazing weekends with some great people.

  • Great Video!!! I really enjoyed all the interviews, especially the basketball story from Feldberg. One thing that you were incorrect about though is that Ed Headrick invented the Frisbee (A Wham-o trademarked name), it was Fred Morrison who Invented the first plastic flying disc which was later named the Frisbee. People where also throwing pie tins and popcorn lids before plastic flying discs though. BTW Wham-o is now owned by a Chinese company, so the Frisbee has left the USA. :(

  • love what feldberg says around 11:30 so awesome and true

  • Great video, and good word at the end by Feldberg. Of all the years i've been disc golfing..I never really thought of that aspect.

  • Feldberg is the shiznit!

  • I just started playing and love it! It is a sport if you ask me. Here in Ohio there are some decent courses.

  • David Feldberg is a Class Act.

  • 1:33 Foot fault.

  • @SnarePops Thats a stroke!

  • Oak grove disc golf course in La Canada California, is the first disc golf course ever made....

  • wowzer foot faults on a bunch of those putts. Discgolf is definitely coming around as a sport, we're building a new local course here in Birmingham, Al. The city gave us a park to place it in, they're cutting the trees we want cut, clearing the land for lanes, pouring the the concrete for the pads, not a penny from the clubs pocket. And the best thing yet? Academy Sports just donated 19 DISCatcher pros for the park.

  • You can try and pretend, but as long as the game is played by 90% pot smokin hippies and 10% people that compete on the PDGA it will never be taken seriously. ( just count the people that show up to the course with just one disc, throw from the wrong box, and look like they still have on pajamas) So just enjoy the game for what it is, an inexpensive way to have fun and get off the couch. And if you want to get serious take up ball golf and enjoy pissing your money away. Just keeping it real yo.

  • @1manvsworld Discin can be taken as seriously as any other sport. Sure theres people who go out and 1/2 ass it but thats true with many sports. 90% of the time i drive past a basketball court its people taking free throws and trying to do trick shots, and theres more than one 40 oz in a paper bad on the sideline. Does this mean basketball isnt serious? Like anything else, the sport is what you make of it. Besides, most ball golf is played while driving around on golf carts, like thats athletic

  • Great video! Thanks for putting it together :) I went to the same Scott Stokely clinic that Nate Sexton went to way back when I was new to the sport too. I took a a private lesson from him after the clinic and I added over 100 feet to my drive in less than 2 weeks from his instruction.

  • Great video! Thanks for putting it together :)

  • Foot fault @ 1:30? you tell me... I just see alot of that and its too fast for most ppl to pay attention to.

But I could be wrong. Am I per PDGA rules?

  • @burgrman ABSOLUTELY a foot fault!! You can go frame by frame and see it... why would this be included? Bad form!

  • @burgman Every putt Nate Bush makes in this video is a foot fault (there's another on at 3:50). I hope the other people on his card are calling him on this!

  • Disc golf is going to be big really soon, I'll bet it starts getting sponsorships and gets announced as a true sport within the next 5 to 10 years

  • @OklahomaDuckChaser22 I agree! thanks for post.

  • I just think the pot smoking, alcoholic hippie stereotype is funny. And people say that it's the one reason that disc golf won't be as big a ball golf. Before big sponsorships and all that the stereotype of ball golfers gave the same bad rep that disc golf get. And look where they are now

  • Great video, I love it. I am a little disappointed though that I am not able to show this video to potential stakeholders due to the talk about the negative perception that DG has; I can't promote a video that talks about "hippies" and "six packs". Dave is correct when he says that this negative perception doesn't exist overseas, at least not here in Australia.

What are the chances of editing this video, removing the negative aspects? I would love to use it when talking to the uninitiated.

  • @2ss307 I can edit this video anyway you want. I would like some more details about what the video would be used for please. Who are these potential stakeholders? Where and how would you promote this video? Thanks for the post.

  • @goodnews907 That would be awesome if you could edit it. Our major goal here is to get local councils on side with the view of getting a course in the ground. I would love to chat further: oli(at)melbournediscgolf(dot)com

    Thanks mate.

  • some people don't like Feldberg. I think he is great.

  • The problem I see is when families come out with there young kids and see garbage cans full on beer cans on the course it can definitely have a negative connotation whether it is deserved or not.

    Great video!!!

  • @Chainchaser1 Yeah, it's tough because people enjoy the sport in different ways. We all need to make an effort to clean it up. Thanks for the post.

  • The problem I see is when families come out with there young kids and see garbage cans full on beer cans on the course it can definitely have a negative connotation whether it is deserved or not.

    Great video!!!

  • theres no player like dave :)

  • lol @ 2:34

  • Dave Feldberg is a great ambassador for the sport and truly a man that cares greatly for Disc Golf. Thanks Dave!

  • Great little documentary. Love the fact that I play the courses shared here all the time. Dave Feldberg's take at the end of this video is right on the mark! Thanks for putting this overview of "Flolf" together and posting it.

  • @moonie2u2 I had a great time making this video. Oregon is filled with great courses. Keep playing and grow the sport! Thanks for the post.

  • 1:33 that kids a cheater!

  • Well done, great shots of Pier Park, one of the great city courses in the nation.

  • @RobersonPhoto I agree! I wish I had more time to play it. Thanks for posting.

  • Looks like a major footfault at 1:27 :)

    Nice video though.

  • Disc Golf <3, GREAT Video.

  • The term "popular opinion" is used when describing an alleged negative perception about disc golf. In reality, relatively few people even know what disc golf is. Those that do have an overwhelmingly positive attitude towards it. Disc golf has never had the reputation of a "pseudo sport" that is "not a real competition worth paying attention to" because in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't have much of a reputation at all outside of those that play and love it.

  • @steveganz I appreciate your opinion. All the pros I interviewed knew exactly what I was talking about when I asked them about the negative perception that some people have about the sport. The players that have been playing a long time have seen a change of opinion over the years. In recent years more people are seeing that this game is a sport. I made this movie in hopes of changing more opinions. It sounds like you care a lot about disc golf. So do I. I want to improve the sport's reputation

  • @goodnews907 I know your heart is in the right place, I just think this video unintentionally highlights and amplifies a perception that doesn't really exist anymore. It really is a bygone attitude that we are far removed from today. Disc golf has come a long way in the last 10 years alone and we have done much to dispel the myths of the past. There simply isn't a need to change opinions that are no longer held. Instead, we should focus on highlighting the positive aspects of this amazing sport.

  • @steveganz What's up Steve. I might actually know you, you the franklin guy? "popular opinion" doesn't mean the opinion is popular amongst the American populous but rather that it is the most popular opinion amongst all the opinions regarding disc golf. This is regardless of the number of opinions or how few Americans have these opinions compared to opinions about other common things. I think we have to fight back to fix the bad sitgman of DG being a hippie, pot smoking, alcoholic sport.

  • Very well done, amazing comments by Feldberg.

  • @RayAwesome Thanks so much! David Feldberg was a big help. He was great for this video.

  • @goodnews907 He's my favorite pro, i've watched tons of his videos to try to get my throw to be like his. He's an awesome person and hopefully one day i can meet him.

  • @RayAwesome Thanks! Feldberg really helped me out with this video. He really will go out of his way to help.

  • Great Footage -- silly commentary.

  • @ellswrth Thanks for the post. It took a long time to shoot and edit, but it was worth it.

  • Really nice guys! By the way, man down @ 4min...lmao

  • Great video! I really enjoyed it.

  • @ifailedyo Thanks!

  • Fred Morrison invented the Frisbee not Steady Ed.

  • @teamudgp You are right. I should have included him in the video. I said "the man who invented the Frisbee," I should have said the man behind the popularization of the Frisbee.

  • @goodnews907 It's a great video! The "sport" has progressed in the 12 years I have played. Can't wait to see the next 12.

  • @teamudgp Thanks for the post! I really enjoyed making this video.

  • Good video. Foot fault at 1:30 The best part was Dave Feldberg at the end talking about the differences between a team sport and an individual sport.

  • @mrpbody33 I agree with you about the the best.part. I watched the shot at 1:30 many times. I watched it very closely frame by frame. The shadow under his foot dissappears the same moment the disc leaves his hand. It's extremely close, but I think the shot is legal. It is not possible to see this in this version because when videos are posted on YouTube they compress the frames. I care a great deal about the sport, so I made an effort to leave the illegal shots out of this movie. Thanks for post

  • nice video

  • @pooman320 Thanks!
