First saw them about 1972 in little Memorial Hall at UGA (Athens, GA). They completely blew our little crowd away. We knew they were going big time. They did, with a quickness.
I like to think of Wet Willy, Molly Hatchett, Synyard, Marshall Tucker Band as the heart and soul of black and white soul of the South. Priceless!! It don't get no better than that. I 've been around this southern soul/rock for over 40 years. It still makes my heart sing.
Wow! I have not seen these guys in years! Wet Willie used to play at Alex Coolys Electric Ballroom back in the 70s and you would see these guys jamming with the likes of Leon Russel , Little Feet,Almond Bros. those were the good days........
Ahhh hell yeah! This is great stuff and they just don't make 'em like that anymore. btw 2009 is the 40th anniversary of Wet Willie. Word on the street is they are getting the vintage (original) guys together for a 40th anniversary gig - stay tuned.
YES it was WELL worth it PN because if grits aint groceries and eggs aint poultry than Mona Lisa was a man. Hot dog these boys have got it down pat!! Thanks a million for this post. 10**********
