I worked at JSC for the first 2 missions of this magnifcent craft in Avionics Itnegration laboraratory (Sail) and as an Englishman , I was truly honoured to work with some of the most inspiring people I have ever met in my life.
Sad to see the end of an era. Just before I was born, man first walked on the moon (7/20/69). I wonder if I will see humans walk again on another heavenly body in my lifetime, and if they will be Americans? If all goes as planned I will be 72 when America goes to Mars. Of course, we have been saying Mars is 30 years out ever since I was born. Goodbye to the shuttle program and thanks to everyone at NASA for inspiring a generation!
I was only 1 year old when the first shuttle was launched in 1981. I never thought this day would come. I actually saluted and shed a tear at wheels stop when I watched this live on CNN. I'll always remember the space shuttle program and never forget its legacy.
nothing is more incredible or more inspirational than manned space flight... i really truly hope someday, sooner than later, that we will see greatness at Kennedy once again. Congratulations Atlantis.
Excellent final flight to the historic program. Thanks for all the hard work in behalf of our country's space exploration efforts! Looking forward to the next era of manned space flight. :)
a very sad day for the last ever Shuttle mission's and a end of the space for the USA thay will never be another one like it bye bye and thanks for all you have give to us from years you give to us watching you do

El fin histórico de una era. Hace menos de un mes estuve visitando el Kennedy Space Center
Opino que en lugar de Space Shuttle lo deberían haber llamado Orbital Shuttle o quizás , Earth Orbital Shuttle.

@dave55853 It's a happy day too. The shuttle can't do it all. We'll move on to the the "next generation"
NASA said today:
"new astronauts won't get to ride on the shuttle....but they might walk on Mars."
"lets celebrate.......be happy"
