  • I love this

  • whoa...

  • There is this upbeat experimental, jazzy kind of song with be-boppy gibberish vocals, and I swear they are referencing at 2:24. Even though I called the vocals gibberish, they are very memorable...pippy poppy pippy poppy... Can someone name that song, or who sings it?

  • loving this. every day. <3

  • This band needs to make a MLP: FIM themed song.

  • hahahaha...i forgot about this song for a year...and then i remembered it....so i looked it up....and my comment was top comment....I WIN!

  • I love this song, but something about it makes my ears hurt a little..

  • Oh my... how catchy is this song?!

I have the Powerpuff Girls soundtrack somewhere... just don't know where I put it.

  • OY demonstrates their understanding of arrangement in "Walk and Chew Gum." I found similar examples in Gene Autry's trill intro to "Jingle Jangle Jingle" and the jazz harmonies of Judy Garland's "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." And in a more abstract sense, Glass' "Koyaanisqatsi." The Freddy Mercury-style dynamic range singing helps, too. Some day "Walk and Chew Gum" will take its place in the VA novelty Hall of Fame.

  • Craig McCracken managed to get some of his favorite bands to do music for this album. I mean: Optiganally Yours, Cornelius, The Bill Doss, Komeda, Apples in Stereo, Bis, Shonen Knife? All on the same album singing about the Powerpuff Girls? Incredible! I bought this album as soon as it came out because of the artist list.

  • I got this CD for Christmas the year it came out, and I still have it today! :D

  • Dude. Thank you. I haven't heard this song in ten years.

  • I love this track - in fact, the whole Powerpuff Girls album is full of brilliant music.

  • You rock (like this track). Thanks for posting it up.

  • OH GOSH, this brings back so many memories! I used to smile a lot when I listened this! <3 xD

  • wtf y r they sining about power puff girls?

  • Dude, why ISN'T this anywhere else on youtube?

  • I like how you think, HiLeonardo. I love this song to death. Also Love Makes the World Go 'Round

  • this song is always stuck in my head. i can't get over it's awesomeness.

  • When I worked at the Granada in Morgan Hill, CA, one of the managers would always play this album over the loudspeakers, which played between shows and (as often happened) if no one bought tickets for a show. So I heard this song countless times in the summer of 2002. That was one of the best times of my life up to this point, so this song brings back awesome memories. Thanks for uploading this.

  • Best song Ever!!

I love Optiganally Yours for realz. :3

  • For other YouTube videos related to the optigan material used in this song have a look at these:

-- /watch?v=VWrGUJzA3a8 -- an optigan demo by Pea Hix (of Optiganally Yours) playing the music in the above clips, which also have their part in 'Walk & Chew Gum'

Optigan Swing It disc in car TV ad

  • what's not to love

  • You might enjoy this -- /watch?v=ZPO9uXPFRRQ

Go to 3:58-4:34 to hear the optigan disc 'Swing It'! which was used to make this song.

I guess only Mattel (or possibly an owner of an 'Swing It!' optigan disc ) knows the song title, composer and performer of this sample.

I did a double take when I heard the music in this recent Chrysler 2010 Town and County commercial -- /watch?v=8J7iuM4yOpM

Perhaps Optiganally Yours had a part in the music for it....

  • @borbetomagus that is interesting! thanks for the info!

  • For those of you scratching your heads to the Shooby Taylor 'Poppy! Poppy! Poppy! reference - go here to hear his 'out there' version of 'Stout Hearted Men' -- /watch?v=fX_120DMFDQ -- The 'Poppy' part is at 0:50

If you weren't scratching your heads with Optiganally Your's mention of Shooby Taylor, you will be once you hear him sing it!

Also go here to hear the original version -- /watch?v=v55F8ocQ--I -- the main tune starts at 1:00

You got quite an ear on you Shooby!

  • To be fair to Shooby, his nickname was 'The Human Horn'.

There's even a website for him.

I imagine many of you are saying - I didn't need to know where to get MORE of THAT music!
