No you are wrong. For example the Mayans NEVER sacrificed woman or children and the movie was true to that. The movie was also true to the use of eclipses of the Sun to impress the population. The Mayans did know when there would be an eclipse of the Sun and planned events around them.

@sacore3 Sorry you can't re-write "History" my "Culture" is about 3,500 years old, all he did was show how it was like in the "Mayan World" before it's collapsed, still is ashame he only focused on the violent side of it, "The Mayan" were better than that, great astronomers, great thinkers, great writers, and over all a great Civilization, not a savage one as is portraited here.

@rayochapin: this is very true but what Gibson was trying to focus on was how back then, they were quite barbaric in terms of what they did, so in the end when they show the boat with the priests coming over, it's to make a point how Christianity like 'saved the world' from all it's corruption! ahaha or some shit like that!

Read Liza Grandia article on this movie. She is SO WRONG! People really have a hard time with something even esp when it is the truth. All history is not beautiful, but that is why we are here. We are learning and growing. Liza thinks that showing the true history on the Myans will somehow damage their efforts today. This is absurd. Good work Mel Gibson. One of my favorite movies!
