  • holy hell, guys no one is seriusly sayin that this is the best gear ... but the price/value ratio is incredible! so if you are not a profesional musican then you should consider it ... ofc, if you spend more then 5k $ on ONE guitar and amp you will have better gear (but still no effects ^^)

also if you turn those amps up, youre neighbors will kill you ... fukkin' 'tallica nerds read everything on wikipedia but never grabed a guitar or practised at home...

  • they used some line 6 shit on garage inc. and thats about it.

  • #COMBO #TOTAL #ULTRABLASTERFAIL Nerd de merda !

  • Fuck sake dude.

  • Metallica using Line6 is as funny as Santa spells Satan rearranged.

  • They used this on st.anger for some fx, thas all

  • Metallica used this for the black album? you have no idea

  • Pinche pendejo eres un imbecil. Sube algo mejor.

  • Du är svensk, ellerhur

  • You know there's a passage from the apocrypha about how David used jam for hours with Phish. He of course used a Pod XT pro

  • @biglu30 HAHAHA This video is great. The guy that made it is the perfect kind of idiot.

  • not entirely true that Metallica have never used Line6. If you look inside the liner notes to the Garage Inc CD you will see inside Kirk Hammett's huge rack a Line 6 head of some kind. One of their earlier models with the rotary amp model dial. Also I believe Kirk has used some of the Line 6 Delay modellers or something too.

  • more mids and less gain is in order here

  • Metallica really has never used Line 6. I know most of the early stuff was recorded with James's hot rodded Marshall and on Master, they added a Mesa Mark II C+. James's current rack has Diezel amps in it, and Kirk's has Randalls.

  • The black album was recorded using Mesa Boogie Mark IV's.

  • In 1991, Bob Rock used a time machine to go to the year 1996 to steal a Line 6 XT Pro and use it for the Black Album !

  • Metallica definitely did NOT use this on the Black Album....this did not even exist when that album was recorded, nor did any Line 6 gear at that time.

The company launched in 1996, and the POD XT was released in the early 2000's if I'm not mistaken.

  • they never use line 6

    on the black album

because i saw "a year and a half in the life of metallica"

and they only use marshall, mesa boogie and nothing else matters

    btw line 6 rules!

  • It is a little known secret that Metallica's budget was so high for the black album they built a time machine to go 12 years into the future and get Podxt's to use on the album.

  • Hey! by the way, a guitar has the most sound in Middle, if you scoope it all you won't have any ''real'' guitar left... pull away some treble and blend some middle in there and you will find a great guitar sound. Don't be afraid to fiddle around with the knobs man, twist and turn until you find a guitar sound that speaks to you

  • OMG!! you are so stupid, do you actually believe yourself? the only Line6 products Metallica use is Line6s effect pedals. Not their shitty Preamps. And they got their first Boogie amps on the Puppets Album, and they wasn't as expensive as they are today. On the Black Album they used Mesa Boogie Mark IIc+, Marshall JCM 800, Marshall Plexi and some other ''old and relic amps'' BUT NOT LINE6... Line6 have tried to simulate the black album sound but faild... (The Line6 that faild)

    Btw, Line6 sucks

  • @Thunderdrone I believe that your spelling of failed has failed.

  • this guy is the best troll I've ever seen lol

  • I certainly hope you are joking. Line 6 was formed in 1996. The Pod XT Pro wasn't even invented until around 2000. The Black Album was released in 1991. James used the MKIIC+ preamp section into the Marshall Dual Mono Block Power Amp with EL-34's for the heavy rhythm sound on The Black Album. If Line 6 were around in 1986 Metallica certainly could've afforded it.

  • WTF? Are you serious? No mids at all and bass and treble full on?

Metallica used Mesa Boogie IIC+ amps for the sound and the mids were only scooped on their earlier stuff.

  • Are you a fucking moron? metallica used mesa boogie mark IIC+ amps with marshall 4x12's and then james hetfield scooped some of the mids with a 32 BAND EQ, who are your trying to fool here?

  • This has to be fake. Nobody is as fucking dumb as this guy. The "exact settings" for the black album are bass 10, mids 0, treble 10 and everyone knows--even my 85 year old grandmother, that kind of setting will give you a tone that sucks the peanuts out of an elephants colon kind of sucky ass tone.

  • WHAT THE FUCK! Where the FUCK did you hear that Metallica used the POD XT on the Black Album? You are *SO* fucking high on drugs. The computer technology to do this didn't even *EXIST* back then. It wasn't a wet dream in a software engineer's mind in 1990-1991.

There has been *A LOT* of information about Bob Rock's recording techniques for TBA and never once did they mention a fucking Line6 POD.

You are such a bullshitter. Stop talking out of your ass... LIAR.

  • @theoriginalmrsm want a biscuit?

  • Good point.

  • Actual FACT: Jesus Christ used the XLR inputs and the Preamp simulator in his Sermon on the Mount. The editing and Effects came in handy because the only PA system that his deciples could find was a crapy old SoundTech. He also used a BBE Sonic Maximizer to help him turn water into Wine...but thats alother story for another day kids.

  • @chefrockstar329 Lol!!! That was awesome!!! Although I did read on wikipedia that Jesus was not too convinced by the A/D converters back in the day. Seeing as He INVENTED analog!!! LOL!!!

  • Yeah, sorry man... Line 6 was founded in 1996 and the band never endorsed the company until the St. Anger CD...and they just use a few of the pedals.

I own a Pod X3 Pro rack and I will agree that unless you have Mesa Boogies/Marshall Plexi's/Diezel/Randall/Bogner Ubershal's/EMG Pickups mounted in expensive guitars(signature models)/a multi million dollar studio with Bob Rock at the mixing board... Line 6 products do a very good job or producing a solid Metallica tone.

  • What ever happened to plug into your AMP and play?

Effects ARE nice, but when they become your tone...

  • Pod isn't even CLOSE to the best thing you can get for heavy metal sound. pods sound terrible compared to real amps

  • They made PODs in the 80's? I'm not so sure about that... And in the studio you generally go analog for as much as possible... and Metallica did use Marshalls, Mesa, and Randalls from the beginning NOT line6. you can mimic the sound with it but by no means is this what they used in the studio to create the tone for an entire album.

  • What are you talking about? Black album was released 1991 and the first line6 product come out 1996.

  • when they record Black Album, Line 6 company didint even exist. But...Metallica have Line 6 XT Pro in their HQ studio. You can see it on some kind of monster dvd. But I really dont think they use it for recording :-)

  • Quit smoking magic dust while giving a demo, better hand that stuff over to the rest of us, you've had enough..........

  • Line 6 was not even a twinkle in someones' eye when the Black Album came out! What are you talking about?

  • hi man just wondering if u still have the line 6 pod xt pro can u do a sound demo of it please such as setting it up and that ?? please ?

  • Wrong!!!! POD (of any kind) did not exist when the Black album was recorded. You should seek treatment for your pathological lying condition.

  • I don't think Metallica has ever used Line 6 amps for anything, only Marshalls, Mesa Boogies and Randalls as far as I know.

  • @Thrashvel Not in the 80's because they couldn't afford it, I know. But they had a very big budget on the black album. I don't blame them, if you can afford it then you should use it imo. Now you even get the preset from enter sandman when you buy a pod. That's cool!

  • @wickedsamurai

They used Marshalls modded by Jose Arrengando and boosted them with either a Rat or Tubescreamer, JCM800's, JMPs, Mesa Boogie Mark IIC+'s, Mesa Quad Preamps, and other amps.

Google "James Hetfield gear" and click the 3rd link.

  • @wickedsamurai Yeah but isnt a mesa amp more expensive than a line 6...? Metallica used a Mark IV on the black album. Metallica has used Mesas every since Master of Puppets.

  • @wickedsamurai they never used and still do not use line 6. these are simulators, they mimic the amps they used. i dont think they ever used a 10 drive 10 bass 0 mid 10 trebel tone. that sounds wretched i would imagine. anyone who uses the drive at 10 must have an awfully fuzzy and noisy distortion. and with the presence at 10, thats gotta be super clicky clanky sounding.

  • @zekeLindgren Well I wouldn't EXACTLY say they don't use Line 6. =/ The last few years since they started playing The Unforgiven live again James uses a Line 6 electric acoustic.

  • @wickedsamurai The POD came out in the 90's.

  • @wickedsamurai Metallica has never used PODs, not even that I think Pods are bad. But the Line6 Pod XT was made in the early 2000's LONG after the Black album was released. Get you're information straight. I liked my Pod when I had it, but don't spread false information. It's a GREAT recording device, and Live it can hold it's own.

  • @wickedsamurai

This is totally untrue. LINE 6 company launched in 95/96. There was no existing POD in 91 when the black album was recorded.

  • @wickedsamurai First two albums were recorded on hot rodded marshall jcm 800's, MOP and AJFA were recorded on 4 Mesa Boogie Mark IIC+ heads through 4 Marshall 4x12's loaded with celestion V30's with a number of different preamp's/poweramps, and possibly another modded, JCM. The black album was used with the entire setup from the last two albums but instead of scooped mids they used a 32 band eq to get one of the greatest guitar tones ever. Metallica have only used line 6 for acoustic stuff.

  • Comment removed

  • @wickedsamurai Line 6 did not exist in the 80's!!! This video cracks me up every time i see it. The very first pod was released in 1998. The XT did not come out until 2002 or so.

  • @wickedsamurai Wow, you're a little retarded aren't you? Line 6 didn't even exist as a company until WELL after the Black Album was released...

  • @wickedsamurai man sorry to bust your bubble but line 6 was formed in 1996, black album was 1991 lol

  • @wickedsamurai this unit costs 2000 dollars less than the mark iv C+ they used on master of puppets...;

  • @XXxESPxXX mark II*

  • @Thrashvel Also Diezel amps and their got some Behringer tops..

  • @Thrashvel Metallica just suck.

  • @Thrashvel you forgot Diezel but only james use it ^^

  • @Thrashvel metallica actually does use line 6 lol, its written on their site, i dont know if it still is but, it used to

  • @Thrashvel And now they use Diezel :P

  • I hate you >:P

  • @PuiuM3u It's not good to hate too much. Hope you're feeling better soon mate!

  • @wickedsamurai :| I dont have that ... equipment ... I have a poor amp (30 w) and no distors pedal ... i have something that create some distrosion :| That's way i'm sad ! :-?? And i hate you :P because you have all ! Anyway ... You are good on guitar. Try this --->.youtube.com/watch?v=1Ws4DyFPdXQ

  • that sounded awesome. the intro riff just kills - very Beatle-sque

  • Line 6 wasn't even out when Metallica recorded the Black album!!!

  • DUDE1!! what setting plz plz plz plz plz!!!

  • @sxephlI You can see where the knobs point in the video, It's sweet!

  • @wickedsamurai lmfao, do you not know that there are so many settings withing the effects/amp/edit buttons. the knobs on the front really are sorta what you get on the front of a normal marshall amp. in fact i have over 40 different settings which are sequencial (a1, b1, c1) so forth. each one is labelled (i.e "bohemion rhapsody solo, sultans of swing, purple haze solo) and so on (linked to foot pedal for live playing) . i think youve only scratched the surface of your line 6

  • @sxephlI omg that sounds awesome imo!! I think I've got to spend some more time with my line 6!

  • Metallica were truely ahead of their time, including using gear that wasn't developed until at least a dacade later! Amazing

  • @Greensmurf Yes but they had the cash so it's nothing wrong with that!

  • @wickedsamurai Of course ;)

  • I don't even think the line 6 pod was around when the the Black album was made.

  • WTF Metallica did NOT use this!

  • @muzapstar They didn't?

  • @wickedsamurai they used mesa boogie Mark IIC++ and marshall 1960 cabs

  • well actually these people say scooped mids is true but it's definately not like the case of bass 10 midle 0 treble 4-6.

one must create a wall of sound.

Lol this guy in this video said they used this for the black album. Not quite mate lol! was funny though i laughed so hard when you said that.

  • if its soooo good! why didnt u play a lil somthin somethin? ey?

  • Because I'm not good enough to play metallica stuff, thats why :(

  • @wickedsamurai hhaha

  • @frostbittenguy Hahahahahahahah.

  • Metallica does use Line 6 products such as the DL4 delay pedal.. and I think they might of use some sort of line 6 product during some recordings now a days because I see line 6 gear in the background of their studios when they are jamming. but never for live use and deff not the black album.. all analog back then baby no digital pure art. check out year and half dvd and it gives you an in depth of the recording process of the black album..

  • hahahahhaahahaha :)

  • "pretty much the best gear you can get for heavy metal sound"

  • Yeah I know dude, it's really sweet!

  • The Beatles and Elvis also used the Line 6 xt pro back in the 60's.

  • Cool! You know what settings they used?

  • I think they took a hammer to the part of the electronics responsible for any mid-range. Even Elvis and the Beatles were scooping mids to get that perfect guitar tone. After all, no mids=lots of warmth and body.

For more info check out the postings Lennon did on the Beatles myspace page about his experience with the pod xt pro shortly before his death.

  • hahahahaha

  • @scarymike51 Actually, if you did more research, you would know that Jerry Lee Lewis used a Line 6 xt pro, recorded back into Pro Tools HD, and was the first artist to have his music burnt to a cd. This was back in 1958, I think. Hahahaha, the kid in the video is hilarious.

  • @scarymike51 so did led zeppelin!

  • @scarymike51

Wrong, THE BEATLES used POD XTR567, but you wouldn't know it because they will be released in 2029. Don't ask me how they managed to get one... I think Robert Johnson used one too.

  • @linoeventual I did a little more research and apparently the POD's origins go back to the 1800's. Slaves created them because they got bored with banging on home-made drums and singing redemption songs. Pretty impressive.

  • @scarymike51 I've heard that some lute players used it aswell, is that true?

  • @linoeventual Yes, John Dowland used to rock with a POD in the 17th century

  • lol guys...he has the EXACT SAME SETTINGS THAT METALLICA USED! everything is either at 10 or 0. Fail. learn about tone

  • Yes I will if you promise me that you will learn some about ironi.

  • that made no sense, and considering im an english major I know what ironi is...but I promise

  • Metallica used Mesa Boogie Mark IV's and pro studio equipment. None of which, im sure, was by line 6

  • I believe you're wrong. The guy that sold me this pod said that metallica used this

  • well the thing about salesmen....they're trying to sell you something, they would have told you john petrucci's live rig is based around this amp modelling preamp. Dont get me wrong they're great I have one myself. Metallica does not.

  • what if you can't afford a real tube amp? :(

  • what world do you live in

  • If thats for real, then your a dumb ass!

  • Hahahaahaa you are funny XDDDD This should be tagged as comedy.. To be so dumb ^^ hahahaha...

    1. Pods will never sound like the real deal, and light years away from Metallica sound...

5/5 you gave me quite a laugh there...

    2. Line 6 made stuff in 1996, Black Album was released in 1991 xDDD

    3. You are dumb

  • LMFAO! dude wtf are you talking about? Line6 only started making gear in 1996. Everyone knows The Black Album was several Marshall's & Mesa Boogie's mixed over & a Roland JC120 for cleans. Good video though dude it gave me a good laugh for a few mins.

  • guys cant u tell?...

he used a time machine to travel to one on one studios back 1991, then gave the POD to james while he was recording the black album. its pretty obvious and make perfect sense... (?) xD

  • ahah must be joking!!

  • lol i think he's joking.

  • Does he say mettalica used in their black album???

  • you're a shithead

  • lol i think he is jokin around guys

  • arhh...sorry this isnt the best amp for metal!

  • i own one xt pro as well. maybe u can show us how it sounds like, instead.

which amp and cab did u use? the best closest i can get is using the jcm800 amp with treadplate. but it's nowhere near the same as metallica black album for sure.

  • hahahahahaha you asshole! POD didn't exist in 1991! hahahahaha loser!

  • Haha, I'm aware of that... I just wanted to get comments from stupid f**cs like yourself :) If you watch it again you'll notice that everything is set to max... gain, treble, mid etc. when I say that this is the exact same settings used by metallica... it's a statement.

  • mid is set to 0 btw. not max :P

  • @OJCBYO And sound exactly the same! oh, it has't sound. his bad....

  • @OJCBYO roflllllllllll

  • you relize that they didn't have Pods in 91' right?

  • 91' you say? I don't think so.

  • Black album was released in 91.

  • haha this guys retardedd

  • u must be from the usa dude...

  • the black album was released August 12, 1991

  • wtf?

  • idiot
