most of the poverty on hastings comes from all across Canada. The homeless people cannot survive in -30 degree winters hence they move here. This is a major factor, i believe, in Vancouvers homelessness problem. Personally, I am happy some of my tax money can actually be used on something I can enjoy. Canada has way too many social programs already... you go into any other asian country and if you do not want to work you simply die as you cannot feed yourself.

we should always be creative about protests, thats how it should be done, use humour to defeat them. And thank you for making this video. Its amazing how much money we spend on ensurinig we get gold medals but those money could be better spent on the real crisis facing so many Canadians. Yes, the housing issue is national wide.

Dear bright & dark heart -- I applaud your eloquent commentary on the Oly presence....I honestly thought the torchfolks wouldn't have the balls to come through the heart of 'downtown East Van', land of artistic political expression & borderlinepoverty.

I'm keen on documenting/working with (ie. art) the Oly tourist/corporate presences, & on the tangible effects the Olys are having on our (East Van/lower income) culture....If you plan any such shenanigans, do jingle me, as I'd love to join.
