Fun video, Randy, but I guess you need to have a video camera with you to get service there...went to AES O'town right after getting my General upgrade; drove three hours and they wouldn't give me the time of day; left a bad taste in the mouth of a new HAM. I visit Orlando several times a year and haven't been back since; order all of my stuff online or will make the trip to HRO in Salem, NH when visiting my folks in ME.

Thanks for showing us AES. I just got the same camera you did and love it so far, I am only using the editing software it came with, it is limited but works ok for youtube, I might have to look at something a little better for editing.

Hi Randy,

it is interesting that the lipsynch is out during the intro but not the rest of the video. I assume you are still using Vegas for the editing. Did you edit the intro separately and then add it to the main video.

Boy you guys sure have nice Ham Radio stores, here is VK we have some but not the ham population to warrant such a big operation. Love the HD and 16X9 your new camera is certainly working.

@vermontcreekbed I was having problems importing the files into Vega. I now have some older versions of quicktime that may help. It took me hours to get the clips into vegas using several converters. Doen't surprise me that the lipsync is out. I had not noticed.

@K7AGE I have used "super" by eright software with some success on Quicktime video files. As for the lipsynch problem in Vegas right click on the audio track and choose "group" and then choose "remove from" then you can slide the audio and resynch it. You probably already know this.

Randy make sure you apply the firmware upgrade to your Zi8 it helps the video and sound.

I also have the zi8 for about 1.5 months i ususally film in WGA mode seems to give almost as good as 720p or 1080 and i use Preseto video works 6 its free, just doesnt have all the bells and whistles that Sony Vegas does. What radio was that on the counter there??? Im seriously considering getting a state of the art all bander.

Good to see the guys at AES, I live about an hour from there on the coast and plan to visit in a few weeks.  George is a great guy and helped me out with my classroom purchases for the amateur radio install at the school that I teach at.

@fordbroncodave The software is basically crap. I use Sony Vegas to edit. Getting the files converted was a real pain.

@K7AGE i knew it was a real pain in the ass. i didn't bother keeping it, i returned it in less then 48 hours with all the problems.

i went and bought a canon A480 which is 10 times better. it saves the video in a low resolution on the camera and you can blow the size up on the computer to 1080 with no problems! well worth it plus more for $80 i spent getting it

Great Vid Randy.Fla. is our second home it seems, and I have never been to AES there, so next time I am going to stop in and see George and Eddie for sure. probably soon.
