The car was the first of its kind utlizing the molecular bonded shell that made the car virtually industructible. Note: the 1982 Trans-Am (third Generation) was first introduced to the world through this series, the first few prototypes were used in this series as a marketing ploy for pontiac.

@MrMichaels2009 Michael Knight was originally a police officer named Michael Long and even had a different face. He was shot in the head by Tanya Walker and left to die. Wilton Knight found his body and had him transported to his mansion. It turned out Long had a tin plate in his head from military surgery given to him during the Vietnam War due to a head injury- so that kept the bullet from going into his brain. Since his face was ruined- he was surgically given a brand new one.

This would mean he's the same guy who provided the line "Michael Knight, a lone crusader in a dangerous world. The world... of the Knight Rider" at the end of some episodes before the "Executive Producer, Glen A. Larson" credit. I'm assuming he played the Wilton Knight character in the pilot episode.

@chazzeroo1967 Richard Basehart did play Wilton Knight in the pilot episode Knight Of The Phoenix. Prior to that role, he starred in a 1960's Irwin Allen-created show called Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea.

Intro is of course legendary one but am I only one who scared it as a child? Especially that part at the beginning where KITT is coming from a distance. When I was about 3 years old, it felt that it´s coming through Tv-screen. In otherwise I like Knight rider so I have really conflicted feelings about it.
