pretty good wheelie, is it easier to wheelie on a fixie? i have a downhill bike that i do wheelies on, i find it comfortable as hell with the back shock and gell seat, but is it easier to wheelie with a fixie?
@JoshnumbaOne I think it is since you have complete control over the rear wheel. I'm not good at using the back brake so I haven't really put too much effort into learning them on bikes that coast. mountain bikes probably aren't awful with the wide tires, but I have no idea how hard it would be on skinny tires trying to use the back brake.
if you wait till your right pedal is on it's way up, slam the right one down while pulling up on the left pedal. and at the same time, do a sexy hip move forwaard and then back, you'll get it no problem. its all in the pedals, not pulling the handle bars. and once you get your front wheel up, you need to really pull up on that left pedal to get your weight over.
by the way, dude in the video is going mad fast. im impressed, i havnt gotten the balls yet to try them over 5 mph lol
why are you sorry about the spandex?? you should rock the spandex with confidence and say "look at how the spandex shows how big my weiner is" to all the ladies
It took a little while to learn. Make sure you're throwing your weight back and not up, and it helps if you time it right so you're pulling as you're putting some force on the pedal. It's important to pull it right up to where it needs to be to balance. If you only pull it up half way and try to pull it the rest of the way by pedaling you'll run out of steam before you can even balance, plus you'll be pedaling way too fast to keep it up. Good luck!
cool. thanks. i was trying to get it today and i was getting some pretty good leverage on the front wheel, but mostly from pedaling faster once i was up. i was only able to get about a half crank rotation and then it felt like gravity was just pulling me down. do you have any advice?
pedaling helps to pop it up without having to really jerk back on the handlebars, but you should be physically able to to flip the bike completely backwards by leaning forward and tossing your weight straight back. Throw your torso back, and only after your arms pop straight then you pull on the bars. You just need to keep practicing until you're comfortable enough to keep bringing it higher and higher. Eventually you'll get it high enough to ride it a couple pedal strokes, and you'll be close.
Incase you can't tell from the massive curve on the fork and the hole in it, it is a road fork. It's steel anyway.
regardless, how exactly is a 38mm fork any weaker than a 43mm fork anyway? The less rake there is the less leverage there is against the fork to bend. The round blades on older steel forks make them weaker horizontally, from a braking standpoint, but that doesn't really apply here.
It doesn't really look like I was slamming the front end back down anyway now does it?
am i able to turn a regular old scoo bike frame into a fixie, cuase my drop out is different from a track bike's,my frame looks like this one in the vid.
dropouts don't really matter its easier to get the chain tight and keep it tight if you have them rather than fork ends but you can convert the bike either way
It's used to be some kind of training course for police cars, so now it's just a half mile oval with half-assed banked corners and an annoying hump in one of the straights. They have races there over summer, and it's better than not having a track at all. It's usually referred to as "the oval" instead of the track
not sure, I think they're easier at high speeds, cause there's less focus on trying to keep it up with your pedals, obviously keep it slow enough that you can jump off the back and start running til you get the hang of it. just make sure you're pulling it up quick and getting it where it needs to be, so you're not wasting your pedaling trying to get the front wheel up instead of balancing.
i've tried unicycles, haven't gotten the hang of them yet. I like doing them more on a fixed wheel instead of a freewheel with a brake, I think the freewheel would be easier to learn though, no real fear of going backwards, but it feels better fixed
I may be the only one that screams "BRAAAAP BR-BR-BRAAAAAAAP" like im on a dirtbike when I do my wheelies. XP

@senses71 haha, you might be the only one who screams it, but I'm thinking it when i do everything. I've got a yz426 sumo too

just an oval track. It used to be a training/practice course for police cars, but now people just ride bikes on it.

is this track a velodrome or is just an ovaltrack bc theres not much steepness or any steepness on those banks

@metrev117 It is a fixed gear, but the rims aren't blue, they're just silver.

track forks aren't strong and wheelies aren't usually landed smoothly. I'd have loved to see a broken fork...

why you so mean

allroy66 3 years ago
not all track forks are curved less and brake hole-less. You can run a brake on many track forks.
No one can softly land the front of a bike down from a wheelie, gravity always wins. Jumps cane be soft but never really wheelies.
Spongebob11223344 3 years ago
How can you not land soft with wheelies? The whole thing is controled by your legs, so you can easily bring the front tire down slowly.

yeah, nice wheelie, with a 45-16 gear ratio does that make it easier to pedal as compared to a 48-18?

Ar wheelies easier to do on a fixed wheel? I'd imagine it's similar to how unicyclists ride.
