Great version of this classic. The background harmonies and the falsetto gives this version a slight edge over the others. To each his own, but the group here handles the harmonies better. The lead is about as good as any other lead.
It's a decent version but clearly not as good as the original Schoolboys version so many of us remember. The late great "Ronnie I" and I had a conversation back in 19'77 about comparing original versions to other versions. I think he said it best when he agreed with me by saying "Why would anyone want another copy of the Mona Lisa when you've got the original to enjoy!". Subsequent versions of songs can be good (even great) but NOTHING can ever replace or compare with the original.
@cobrawing9 : Even the Big Band's & Dance Band's of the 1930's & 1940's recorded songs several times over. If a particular song was good, they re-arranged it and recorded it in their own way.. putting their own twist on it, so it's not a new idea or concept . As a musician, I don't understand the complaint, since music is to be enjoyed by all who hear it or perform it . It's actually a compliment to the composer of the song that's being recorded and performed many times over.
@MrRJDB1969 Sorry, but postings here are for people to leave their honest comments. I clearly stated it's a decent version but not as good as the original. That's my opinion, I'm entitled to it and I'm sticking with it as it happens to be true. Sure lots of songs are copied and the majority of them sadly don't hold up to the original and this is one of them. It's not a bad rendition. I could have said that but didn't so grow up.. Your opinion is no more valuable than anyone elses.
Will: I remember Don K Reed playing this song often on Saturday or Sunday nights. As a former NJ girl, I miss these songs. Here in KS, they don't have an oldies song.
I ALWAYS HAVE LOVE THIS SONG. I ENJOY THIS VERSION.

I've always loved this version. Don K. Reed used to play this one fairly often on "The Doo Wop Shop".

Hey PJ - This is a great rendition. Holds its own against the Desires version. Might even be better!

The Desires version is a bit more blues-y... But this version is a good one too.
