However, a buddy of mine has an M16A2-SD and it's pretty bad ass. FN2000 however...yeah, is all the extra bulk really necessary? Its just screaming anti-ambidextrous.

Everyone who plays call of duty: ( I do too ocasionally) Just because the gun may be 'bad' in the game does not mean it can't work efficiently in the real world. It is a very well designed gun. It's a gun, guns can kill. They are to be taken seriously.
The XM8 was actually fairly reliable and an all-around good piece of work - it's just a G36E with a different shell. It was the SCAR which had tons of issues.
@kellervo89 actually the XM-8 was amazing as was the SCAR. The reason the XM-8 was not selected was because the totally un-corrupt american government panel had large stakeholders of Colt arms who stood to lose billions in arms sales to H&K and scrapped the entire project when the XM-8 won.
@kellervo89 And thats why the XM8 was cancelled. SCAR systems is more reliable and you can have different calibers, you can also exchange a few parts to use captured AK47 mags.
@Yustax You have the SCAR mixed up with the Remington/Bushmaster ACR - the SCAR comes in two variants, the Mk. 16 and Mk. 17. The Mk. 16 (5.56mm) order was cancelled by SOCOM due to reliability issues - namely if you didn't have a perfect firing stance, the action would not cycle all the way, and showed minimal improvement over the standard issue M16 compared to competitors. The Mk. 17 (7.62 NATO, incompatible with 7.62 Kalashnikov) does not have these drawbacks and was taken as designated MMR.
@Yustax ACR on the other hand - even though MW2 screwed it up like it did every gun - is a very reliable, and useful weapon due to its ability to change calibers, but that's still not something you can do in the heat of battle, and it's much more expensive then the US government was willing to spend. In reality pretty much any of the rifles mentioned (F2000, SCAR, ACR, XM-8, HK416) would all be suitable replacements, but like eclectic mentioned, there's a corporate influence which fubars that.

As someone said, indeed the XM8. But that rifle was for the overall rest crap so perhaps it doesn't count.
As far as rifle go that were actually in service, I'd say the IMI Galil. It's pretty much the AK-47, with the issues you could complain about improved.

The perks are used as a system to encourage longevity of play... They level up, they get more stuff. They get more stuff, they level up more. Rinse and repeat. Why do you think that the majority of FPS games now have an RPG element built into them? That's right... repeated gameplay. ;)

Call of duty isn't realistic at all, if you know some things about real firearms you should know that, like call of duty says the ak74u is a submachine gun, well its not, its an assault rifle (it uses 5.54x39mm rounds) nd thats just 1 ex

The XM8 was actually fairly reliable and an all-around good piece of work - it's just a G36E with a different shell. It was the SCAR which had tons of issues.

@kellervo89 actually the XM-8 was amazing as was the SCAR. The reason the XM-8 was not selected was because the totally un-corrupt american government panel had large stakeholders of Colt arms who stood to lose billions in arms sales to H&K and scrapped the entire project when the XM-8 won.

@Yustax You have the SCAR mixed up with the Remington/Bushmaster ACR - the SCAR comes in two variants, the Mk. 16 and Mk. 17. The Mk. 16 (5.56mm) order was cancelled by SOCOM due to reliability issues - namely if you didn't have a perfect firing stance, the action would not cycle all the way, and showed minimal improvement over the standard issue M16 compared to competitors. The Mk. 17 (7.62 NATO, incompatible with 7.62 Kalashnikov) does not have these drawbacks and was taken as designated MMR.

@Yustax ACR on the other hand - even though MW2 screwed it up like it did every gun - is a very reliable, and useful weapon due to its ability to change calibers, but that's still not something you can do in the heat of battle, and it's much more expensive then the US government was willing to spend. In reality pretty much any of the rifles mentioned (F2000, SCAR, ACR, XM-8, HK416) would all be suitable replacements, but like eclectic mentioned, there's a corporate influence which fubars that.

As someone said, indeed the XM8. But that rifle was for the overall rest crap so perhaps it doesn't count.
As far as rifle go that were actually in service, I'd say the IMI Galil. It's pretty much the AK-47, with the issues you could complain about improved.
