@nbachmann ur a fucking asshole he became Paralyzed fuck u ass prick u have no fucking life hope something like that happens to u asshole. get a fucking life piece of shit
hockey is a physical sport, always has been, always will be. i just hope that the players will learn that it is dangerous, think it will never happen to you as Travis had extremely, unfortunately found out. it really is horrible...
It looks like he tried to hammer the d player and kind of missed. Where was the Puck? Too many players try to hammer the other player instead of separating the other player with the Puck with a rubout. Big hits can lead to injuries as in this case. The boards are a very dangerous place and freak accidents can and do happen.
Go travis, you inspiration to all fellow hockey players that have ever stepped foot on ice! Everyday know that my family and friens have u in our prayers!
@nreedbuffalo Technically, he did leave with his shoulder. You can see at 0:10 second that his arm was extended to follow through with the check. Unfortunately, the guy he was trying to check moved at the last second, and all of his momentum carried him headfirst into the boards. He had no way to regain his balance.
@jbobbster Either way, it sucks and I feel sorry for him. Hockey is such a fun sport, and when you're that good, you don't want to give it up, especially because of a stupid mistake
@nreedbuffalo This guy was just one step away from professional hockey, I think he knew what he was doing.. The reason it happened was because the player avoided the check, just a freak accident nobodies fault.
Example, Matt Cooke crying about his dirty hits because he was having family problems or whatever his excuse was, and said he won't throw dirty hits anymore after watching "hours of tape". He is in mid 30s and playing in the NHL and now he learns how to throw a clean hit?!?!? You played like a scumbag cause your wife was ill!?!?!? Tell that to Mark Savard and his family.
Also gets me worried with all the head injuries in NHL getting attention, and guys in hockey with the power trying to eliminate checking at a young age. If kids don't learn how to take and receive a hit at young age, then I expect a lot more injuries. NHL head shots are a respect problem, not a hockey education problem.
This event really hurts to watch and think about, so sad a REAL hockey player to go down like this, and makes me foam at the mouth when I see NHL players dive to get a call or to just bitch at ref for future calls. (looking at you Montreal) the only thing that kept him down was the powers that be, or god or whatever you wanna call it.
Such a tragedy. He said he tried to get up and it was like when you try to start a car in winter and the engine makes a weak "click click" and then goes completely dead. He said that is just what it felt like.
That's so sad
I play at a hockey rink called "Travis Roy arena" so thats pretty cool to play at

That's why you lead with your shoulder, not head. Every good hockey player knows that

...I first learned of Travis Roy in a Reader's Digest article. Thanks to his activism,
gritty courage, determination, etc., hopefully praplegics/quadriplegics will at least be
able to use both arms....and walk again...
