Honestly, the options that jack the price up really add nothing to the experience and quality of the car. The 17" wheels give up nothing to the 18" curb magnets, the manual is one of the best made and the cloth interior is, in my opinion, just as good as the $1800 partial leather. A totally "stripped" GTI with a manual can be had for under $24k! For people who drive, that's a *STEAL*.

I just bought the same car, same color, manual shift with karthoum black wheels. I absolutely love it. Ironically my other choice was 2010 WRX and I'm happy that I picked this one. It's a different quality work, specially the interior is by far better looking and made. Absolutely love the torque, don't need to downshift often.

I wouldn't mind let Matt have a test ride with it!

You want a purist car, get a Miata, or a Caterham, but if you want good handling and good power in a tight, luxurious package, the GTI is perfect.

Being an owner of a hot hatch (04 WRX wagon) I can totally agree that 30k is a lot for a hatchback, so it's nice to see that you get some luxury with that money.

Gotta love VW's they are hugely underrated cars, and this video proves how smart german engineering overrides stronger powered vehicles like the MS3. Yes, they're more expensive but just like Matt said, you get a really refined interior that rivals higher end cars,there is a low use of cheapness with this car, its a quality car that no other car company will be able to rival. And since it already comes turbo charged, makes this car so easy to modify the possibilities are endless with this car.

@DJWYTEBOY Yes. If it doesnt use a clutch pedal and have an h-pattern tranmission, its an auto. People can argue about the F1 type tranny being the fastest shifting but in fun factor terms, h-pattern is the way to go. No ifs ands or buts.

Yup the Audi VW thing ... even with less horsepower (well, stock anyway.. you can always APR the thing like crazy) the GTI rolls along with subtle suspension and vehicle dynamics. There is actually a reason to drive a GTI.

Those promos did what they were supposed to do; show off the effectiveness of the products (which by the way, is excellent).
