  • Holy shit. They let women style their hair like that back then?

  • I swear I've seen her in an old porn vhs..

  • amagine if some1 broth windows 7

  • It is very curious how both the Windows systems engineer and the executive editor of one of the biggest trade magazines are both promoting a commercial product. There is not very much objectivity here... Whether you like or dislike Microsoft is not relevant, it just seems strange to me that this kind of marketing, be it in any industry, is not frowned upon

  • Windows 7 done away with 3D buttons ....WHY???

  • ah crap i cant install it, i dont have the requirements = (

  • meanwhile MacOS version 7 was right around the corner featuring multitasking in a seamless GUI ... this is like watching cave men invent fire in central park

  • I still get a chuckle on how much Windows 3 still looked almost like a MAC environment. You would think Microsoft after a major upgrade like this would have at least been more creative and more apart from the MAC prototypes.

  • this was back when i was 16

  • Is she wearing a... Bola? o_0

  • I don't think they've ever heard of an Intel XEON 6-core processor, 512Gb SSD/ 2Tb HDD, AMD Radeon HD 6900+ and over 64Gb RAM.

  • Man what great times i remember playing Cannon fodder on win 3.1 good times lol.

  • @BrooklynBros stop saying cuss words

  • @sarnieken you may be right

  • go windows

  • The chick looks like Tiny Tim!

  • Old School!!! :-)

  • its confusing..

  • I would bang her so hard i would take the perm right out of her hair LOL!

  • I remembered one important thing from this video: how much minimizing is taken for granted XD

  • Thank G-d I was only 8 when computers sucked this much.

  • She is hot!

  • How fashions and hairstyles of the day enhanced the special beauty of thisMicrosoft lady.

  • I almost got caught flogging the dolphin to my very first computer porn... girlfriends older brothers 'pc' - he was out... i was horny... or was when i saw an exe file with an interesting name, ran it and it was a hi-rez black & white animation of a naked woman with her boobies bouncing... then girlfriend walks upstairs, could i remember the simplet command cls? no... esc and space, it scrolled up... space space space space tap tap titty-tap tap... shit hurry up...tappy tappy.... hello darling!

  • @pcvideogamer sad for YOUUUUUU! jk xD

  • @pcvideogamer what are you 80?

  • My old LCII Macintosh had a 16 Mhz processor. I thought I was king of the world LOL!

  • 1MB or ram. This is back in my hey day. I been around computers for 23 years. At age 3 i was introduced to them. Windows 3 was cool. Yep. Used it it worked very well. It didn't crash like 7. Word perfect WOW. memories

  • snif so long ago :(

  • 1mb of RAM. Boy was that alot. Sooner or later, that'll be the size of cache!

  • i wonder how much people would freak out if you went back in time with an ipad. lol

  • 1000 people watched this on apple devices

  • hey look...now I'm on 7...I can play 3d games...vs...minesweeper...;D

  • i have a computer with windows 3.1.. its so much faster than vista and runs on less than 1MB of ram

  • Now my current pc run 48gb of RAM.On my windows 7 64bits.

  • @gck86

    48 GB???

    12x my desktop. >:(

  • yeah, it was pretty technical back then, the way she describes it.

  • gary kill'd all, murderer

  • Gary Kildall is remarkably receptive to Windows. Must have been tough to sit with a feeling you so missed the boat, after having built the operating system that micosoft originally copied to land the pc deal with ibm; that could have been him!

  • @NavarroOne I was thinking the same thing! Poor guy!

  • 3 persons watched this on a Mac

  • I wonder how much people would freak out if you went back in time with a Quad core, 1 tb HD, Radeon 5800+ HD 2gb PC.

  • @bud389 lol thats what Aliens are probably doing right now to us

  • @bud389 how about just hand them a 16 gb thumb drive

  • @bud389 or a 12 core i7 system with DUAL 6990's and 192GB of RAM with 4 x 1TB OCZ SSD's with 512MB/SEC read and write in raid and 3x 30 inch 3d monitors in eyefinity mode

  • @bud389 not as much if u showed them an 8 core amd athlon64 8 core bulldozer chipset with an HD 6990 4GB and a 5 2TB hdds in raid, WITH 36GB of DDR3 TRIPLE CHANNEL RAM @ PC3-17000

  • @Kage999 amd cpu's suck ass

  • @bud389 F that i7 @ 3.4ghz GTX 590, 4TB hdd and 16gb of ram!

  • @bud389 Comon why a radeon 5800+ HD 2gb? Go for somthing more awesome like a Nvidia Geforce GTX 580 SLI and 16GB ram!

  • @bud389 you'd be called a witch and burnt for your voodoo witch craft

  • @bud389 I always think of that!! Imagine?!

  • @bud389 I think they'd be more amazed you went back in time.

  • @bud389 Or if you went back to the mid nineties, when Apple was failing, with the Macbook Air or Pro!

  • @upturnedkangaroo I suppose if we lived in a world with time travel I could probably think of better things to do than wow the ass of retired computer hacks...

I doubt I'd be wasting space bringing a macbook air with me....

Bringing a paperclip back to the 1870's would make you a multi-billionaire...and 99% of those end up in the trash!

  • @bud389 I think they would freak out more if you showed them an IPhone 4

  • @bud389 I wonder how much people would freak if you brang windows vista. maybe not much...

  • @bud389 Just show them your phone. That alone would blow their monkey minds.

  • @bud389 that would actually have more power than the fastest military supercomputer at the time.

  • @bud389 they'd say ATI is phail

  • @bud389 or better still handed her an iPhone with the apple logo on it and said 'its for you...'

That's be another thing MS would have taken apart and scavenged for things they didn't invent themselves...which I might add is a rather long list.

Its crazy the way things panned out...

  • @bud389 Given its roundabout journey it'd make you wonder where Xerox got it from....

  • @MumblingMickey The Xerox Alto was the first computer ever to use a Graphical User Interface, so i doubt they "got it" from anybody.

  • @bud389 Well the mouse was invented in 1964, so you'd have to assume it was patented with a purpose. And it was, for a GUI which came with it... unfortunately for Douglas Engelbert (the inventor) patents were not accepted on software in 1964.

So as it turns out the very first GUI was in fact invented by Douglas Engelbert at the ARC department in Stanford.

Xerox might have got it from there, or reinvented it without knowing. Which begs the question of how they also invented the mouse.

  • FURTHER:

However there is a link here..

Engelbert hired someone to build the mouse, a guy by the name of Bill English. English went on to work for Xerox in 1972. Where it seems he reinvented the mouse. However this time it had a ball (which the original didn't)

In the meantime Engelbert got SFA from the whole thing... (well actually he was awarded a prize by MIT in the 90's for the advent)

But like the aircraft it was going to happen anyway with or without Xerox, English or Engelbert

  • My guess is any investigation of software or for that matter any discovery will show a long list of theft after and often before it enters the consumer marketplace. In software its practically the driving force... despite what we think of pirates without them their would be less advent...

I don't think its a bad thing really... as they say... " He who snoozes...loses! "

  • @MumblingMickey Except he didn't make a GRAPHICAL user interface, it was completely text based, so no, he didn't create the first GUI, that still belongs to Xerox. It's like saying that the person who invented black powder invented the gun.

  • @bud389 They will think you are god.

  • i haven't seen this OS for about what? 20 years?

    this takes me way back.

    nice video!

  • What games can be play on this? Age of Empire?

  • now, on sundays, i can watch the game from my ipod. Technology. Lol.

  • 'and 3d buttons :smug:'

    lol

  • 4:00 WHAT!?

  • Back then we didn't have to load up our system with anti-virus programs.

  • I was born in 1990! So when my parents upgraded to Windows 98, they gave me their old Windows 3.1 PC. I still remember it from the couple of years that I used it as a kid before getting Windows 98, then switching to Mac.

  • Windows 7 bitches!

  • Back when computers were distinct enough fro each other as to warrant a show for them.

    Thanks for posting!

  • Never had 3.0 Had to install it on a system at work, that didn't like 3.1 3.1 was much nicer to look at than 3.0 My preference back then was 3.11 (same as 3.1 but with network options).

  • 3d buttons they dont know what they are talking about

  • Steve Jobs

  • @bugsy101073 where?

  • @bugsy101073 Um no Bill Gates made Windows.

  • old school PC ^_^

  • I started on 95. I only liked 98, XP and W7. ME sucked- vista Sucked

  • "You can totally customize your desktop"??????

    NICE!

  • Gus Venditto was one stylish beeeyatch!

  • You can tell Margaret is a systems level programmer, she wears a bolo.

  • I loved this show. Computers kept me a virgin for far longer than I had anticipated.

  • I want to render full 3d polygons of the model of New York city, which software due you reckon on my floppy disc?

  • Where i can download this? ITS LOOKS AWESOME!

  • did she use a optical or laser mouse?

  • Yes they are using them not windows-me but 98,95 even 3.1. Mainly people who collect pc's at the time these systems were out. If you have a p-1 system you can't use xp. Some like to use the older windows.

  • "U CAN TOTALLY CUSTOMISE UR DESKTOP..." LMAO...

  • Thinking back, it was pretty hopeless. You needed balls to put your faith in something crap like this even for a SME. Created more and new problems and headaches to begin with rather than solving or improving anything else.

  • macintosh waz made in like....THE 60'z

  • @Dmitrigaga

no mate:P in the 60's you dont got a pc yet:P

in 1976 ore something the first pc was build.

i know for sure in the 70's but defenently not in the 60's

    Cheers!

  • "3D buttons" haha

  • TOP SELLING PROGRAM GUISE

  • Poor Gary Kildall sitting their having to interview people.

    Gary was a programming genius.

  • This really was the first version to really take off.

  • MS-DOS

  • I always HATED shoulder pads in women's clothing ARGH!!

  • "it also runs on machines with less then 1 mb of memory" LOL!!!

  • @MHRCODProductions 4,000-1 = 3,999meg of free ram...nice

  • @MHRCODProductions If only my watch had an lcd screen then =(

  • @MHRCODProductions Runs like shit on those, though. Requires a 286 minimum IIRC, and no real multitasking for you! xD

  • @MHRCODProductions 5 years from now.. we are ganna be laughing at the 16 gig RAM and 32 gig ram!

  • What's interesting is that in this version, you can change the window colour, yet in XP it's just blue or green or silver, but in Vista (and 7 probably, I don't have a 7 yet) you can change it again.

  • @tardiskeeper6 Yeah, I just noticed actually. In Windows 7 you can change window and taskbar colour and transparency.

  • It took 10 seconds to change the color

  • Its sad that most people only know XP, Vista, and 7 these days. But back then, ME, 98, 95, 3.0 and other ruled the world!

  • @00doowi Yep the youngsters of today who do Information Technology have missed out. I was lucky enough to start off with an IBM XT machine, Monochrome Monitor and a very early version of DOS. Next machine was a Windows 3.1 machine :)

  • @00doowi ME is the biggest piece of shit known to man.

  • @MrMetalBurrito Yes you are!

  • @AllofVideos It's like 95 and 2000 put together, so it's like 2000, only it's got a limp dick, so to speak.

  • @00doowi Replace ME with 2000. ME SUCKED SO BAD.

  • @00doowi Well.. Back in the days they ruled. We have new technology these days. Btw Windows 2000 was so much better than ME

  • @00doowi what about 2000 and 3.1

  • @00doowi

why would anyone need to know the previous ones, is anyone using them

  • @00doowi ME? Kidding ME? Windows ME was a piece of shit. Worse than Windows Vista. Windows 2000 was the real deal, same with 95 and 3.x

  • @00doowi ME was awful

  • @00doowi i meeted windows 98, 95 and ME , and i'm not too old

  • @00doowi its sad that most people only know ME, 98, 95 and 3,0. Back then DOS ruled the wolrd!

  • @00doowi it's also a time when quality broadcasting and proper geeks ruled the air waves. now we have kevin pereira

  • @00doowi no its not

  • @00doowi ME <3

  • @00doowi Scratch ME off.

  • can it run Crysis 2?

  • 3:14 she's soooo coooolll

  • LOL when she was trying to show the wallpaper and she had to drag the window out the way! No minimize in 1990!

  • better than vista

  • I have it out in the garage. I can safely say it really sucks.

  • I wonder why they named it Windows 7, when it was technically Windows 10.

  • @BensoftMedia Well 3.0 was the first popular Windows OS, and when you take out 1.0, 2.0 and ME, you have 7 good Windows versions...yes I am one of those people that liked Vista(as scandalous as it sounds).

  • @Superude24 lol, why??

  • @Superude24

This thing makes me really feel old. I'm glad I'm up-to-date with Windows. Windows 7 rules now. But you can still run it anytime in virtualbox.

  • NeXTStep was released around the same time as Windows 3.0, it's amazing how much NeXTStep was ahead of its time!

  • @TheProgrammer That's the really amazing thing, isn't it? In 1990 this seemed state of the art to me. I think when I had seen screen shots of NeXTStep, all I could think of was "that's ugly!" I didn't understand the deeper implications. It is absolutely mind-blowing to realize there was already an OS out there that at its core was everything OS X is now.

  • Used to have Win 3 on my first proper PC which was an 8086 which to be honest loaded windows quicker than my current quad core. Although Windows back then was not the Operating System it was a program, MS- DOS or similar was the OS so probably not a good comparison. Still, makes me feel old.

  • Windows 3.0 is hardcore

  • @loldotalol379 Chips Challenge.

  • what he said at the end is a lie, windows 3.0 does NOT require at least a 286. i'm surprised margaret didn't jump in. maybe she did but the video cut off. it will run fine in real mode on an 8086 or 8088.

  • were there even 3D games then id be so bored

  • @PEnDuLuMDeLuX Yes, there were a few. id Software was one of the most popular game makers back in the day, and Wolfenstein 3D, released in 1992, was one of the first successful 3d third-person shooters.

  • @drygnfyre Just that it wasn't 3D but 2.5D.

Real 3D didn't exist until much later.

  • Back when Windows was an operating environment, not an operating system!

  • I love the look on her face as Gary asks the question at 4:21. She's having the same reaction Borat had when he was told American women could choose who they sleep with.

    "WHAAT?!"

    Windows without DOS?! Preposterous.

  • Disk 1 into your A: drive. I haven't done that in nearly a decade!

  • i have windows 3. the computer runs with 12mb ram; 200 mhz; 1gb hard disc

  • 3d Butttons ...........

  • Gary Killed All :D 0:27

  • Now that I think about it, we really did hit one hell of a computer technology boom in the '90s. Before that decade, growth was kinda slow compared to its current pace.

  • @loldotalol379 Back then, we used computers just for playing games. Er, that's what I used mine for anyway, lol. I had Windows 3.11, though, not 3.0. But they were pretty much the same.

  • they should have just stopped designing new computers after windows 3 that's really all we need.

  • 4:29 the jigg is up!

  • So computers had around 827kb wow

  • one day we'll look back at windows 7 and have a good lol at it too.

  • less than 1M BAHAHAHAHA

  • 3:12... The woman got scared.. lol

  • Mac OS was first.

  • @Kyuuqsoft Linux beat it by more than a decade. Sorry.
