@Builderimages1 Well, the trick is finding the exact battery. If you open up the heli, the battery should have its info written on it (800mah, 3.7v or something like it). You will then have to go onto ebay or google and see if you can find a match. You will have to solder it in as there aren't any connectors. I am doing this on two of my syma choppers this week. Stock they are 180mah, but I found 240mah batts that fit. It was 8 bucks for 3
@MultiSven10 Yes, Like any flying toy, crashing is bad. This review is old at this point and I would say that the current best bang for the buck is the Blade Scout CX. Not only is the CX higher quality, but all of its parts are available locally and online. Its only a few bucks more than the Falcon X.
Oh yeah, and the Scout CX and all its parts are sold at all major hobby stores so getting repair parts is easy. Since it is only $50 I am definitely recommending it as a much improved replacement of the falcon X minus the lights...
Just an update. I have been getting a lot of people complaining about their new Falcon Xs not working. As this heli hasn't been made for 2 years now, the batteries on them all are probably dead from sitting on the shelf for 1 or more years. Be aware that if you buy one of these you may have to replace the internal battery right away. A better heli might be the scout CX by Blade. They are modular and have easily replaceable batteries for 50 bucks. + they are true 4 channel helis!
@begley09 My Bad :) The scout CX is only 3 channel. The difference is that it uses cyclic to adjust forward and rear motion, rather than a little tail motor.
@SnakeProductions552 How far are you running the batteries down? Are you running them until they are completely dead? I am just trying to figure out why you would have 2 bad ones in a row. Running them all the way down ruins lipo batteries. Please see my comment below to lickypianocat - it has all the info about getting a new battery.
@SnakeProductions552 That is the only downside with any of these cheap helis. Lipo batteries wear out after 100 uses or so, or can wear out if stored to long without maintaining 3.7 volts. On the more expensive Blade MCX2 ($120) and the new Scout CX ($50) the battery comes out of the heli and charges on a charger like the big helis. Now that the scout CX is so cheap, its a better bet than the Falcon X. I made this review almost 2 years ago and the market has changed.
@SnakeProductions552 Oh yeah and with the scout CX, chances are that your local hobby store has all the parts and batteries in stock. Since you can have more than 1 battery, you can fly lots of flights back to back without having to wait for the heli to charge. I have an MCX2, MCX S300, MSR, Hobbyzone Champ, Ultra Micro T-28 and Ultra Micro-P51, all of which use the same battery, so I have about 20 batteries :). I don't fly the Falcon X anymore as my son wrecked it.
I'm gonna say this because its obviously a problem with a lot of people. DON'T fly the helicopter battery all the way down to nothing. Lipo batteries cannot be discharged all the way or they will never work again!!! When the throttle gets mushy, STOP FLYING. DON'T RUN IT TILL IT WON'T FLY!!!!!
@lickypianocat you can buy the battery on ebay (search for falcon x battery) Its a 180 mah 3.7v single cell Lipo. I would imagine that you would have to remove the screws from the canopy (cockpit) and then carefully cut the battery out leaving the lead wires. You would then solder the new battery in. Make sure red goes to red and black goes to black.
What do you do if your helicopter vibrates when it flys, and it only flies for about 3 seconds and falls to the ground...it has new batteries, been charging forever, can you get a new one for free, is there a email, phone number to call?? Because i didn't even have it for a month, and I got it far away...
@lickypianocat I am sorry, I need to be more clear. You need to change the battery inside the helicopter cockpit, NOT the remote batteries. Your Lipo battery (the one inside the heli) is no longer holding a charge. Lipos have a lifespan of 5-12 months and can be charged about 150 to 300 times, but if something goes wrong and they drop to low on voltage, then they will start doing what your heli is doing.
@lickypianocat I don't think any RC toys ever come with a warranty. Even the expensive helis from blade have no warranties. Here is a tip if you buy another one - when the heli is starting to need more and more throttle to stay airborne, land it and recharge it. If you keep flying until the heli won't fly anymore, you will damage the battery and it will only fly for a couple of seconds after a full charge.
@lickypianocat - You need a new battery. It sound like you need a new rear motor too. At that point it might be cheaper and easier just to buy a new one.
after some hard crashes one of the liftmotors slipp a littelbit from his position and it make some bad noise ,with a small screwdriver i reposition the motor and its fine.
is the Falcon-X the same than the swift? I found a dealer and he sells spareparts for the swift helicopter! I love my Falcon ,i had never a flying RC before!!
Nice Video an good instruction to save the batterie life!!
I removed the canopy and useless landing bars and metals parts at rear after that I glued the one of the landing bar under the lipo and now CG is very good stable and it goes up and forward very very fast. Also stays much more time in air.
Not sure about the trims on the VII model. My Heli only had the center trim (to trim rudder). If you have trims on your heli for forward / backward then trim it forward until it stops floating backward.
@eliden Infrared helicopters have 3 channels, A, B, and C. This allows you and your friends to fly 3 different helicopters at once, one on channel A, one on channel B, and one on C. Also, if you have 3 helicopters (one on each channel) you can control them all from the same remote (one at a time, obviously yuk yuk). I am under the impression that each heli is fixed to a certain channel and can't be changed , but I am not positive. (usually the channel is listed on the box it came in).
@TheJujuboy1997 There aren't any trim controls on these helis, so if you crashed and bent something so that the heli will no longer hover, there is not a whole lot you can do. Once again, these are cheap helicopters and do have a limited life. Mine always floated slowly to the right after I crashed it hard outside. Then my son ran it into a dresser and now it doesn't fly at all. I bought a couple different ones after that, but the Falcon X is still a favorite.
@Stewie3711 Not sure about that. On these smaller helis I try to keep them stock as any change in weight can drastically affect flight performance and characteristics.
I have the new version of this heli, Which is the red arrow but is still the falcon x. When I fly it, It hover's perfect but when i want to go forward or backward, It barely goes forward nor backward, I dont know if it's normal or there's something wrong with it? I just got it out of the box when it was doing it.
@Stewie3711 If I remember correctly the falcon x should have 2 speeds forward and 2 speeds backward. As a 3 channel coax this heli will never be super fast, but mine moved respectably fast as seen in the video. Maybe your rear motor is going bad and isn't able to reach the higher rpm speed. Hope that helps!
@multiben200000 The top flybar gives the heli more stability. Just be careful not to wack the exposed flybar as this will end your flying days. The MCX and MCX2 also have top flybars (above the main blade).
@Bag302 Usually each color is a different channel. I find that the channel sticker is usually on the box and sometimes the heli has a little sticker. It is possible that you bought to helis that are on the same channel. They IR helis are all either A, B, or C.
@HypoTurtleProduction - They change the specs on these all the time. Some start green and go red while charging and then turn green again when the charge is complete. I would imagine this is how yours is set up.
Thanks man I spent SO LONG saving up to buy a helicopter I love helicopters then I got one and it's a lame styrofoam one that just leans forward to go I had to return it because it randomly spun out of control and broke then I wanted this one and now I know it's a really good one
@bobaethan - Yeah this is a great cheap entry level heli that works like it is supposed to. The airhogs helis are a bit more durable in crashes though. The styrofoam bodies help absorb impacts. To get an airhog that actually is controllable and has a gyro built in, you have to spend about $60 or $70 bucks. I like this heli better than any of the airhogs I have owned.
Awesome! Thank you for the review, I appreciate it very much! I have a Mini X-Sport 6033 heli and I'm trying to find out if there is a way to replace the battery? Would you know if or how to do this, if not could you direct me to a place or someone who might be able to help me! Thank you again!
I have two of these yellow and red. I got the red one today because this heli is AWESOME. I'm telling you it's so cool you can fly it with no hands cause it's really stable when hovering. I definitely recommend it to all r/c heli pilots. Have fun flying :)
OK, the closest new heli on Xheli.com is the "Mini X Sport RC" item 6033-XSportHeli. It no longer has the tail light, but still has the front lights. It is the same body with a different paint scheme and new colors, green, yellow and red. There are several other Gyro Helis out there too that are the same price and have the same features, but different bodies. I still think the original Falcon X is the best though.
I just ordered one of these, unfortunatley not from XHELI, and it said on the description " Charges from transmitter" could that be a typo, or do they sell the usb cable seperate in case it does not come with it?
@sparky0308 Yeah, Xheli stopped selling these about a month ago, though they do have a very similar one with a different paint scheme and name (maybe the lastest edition). I would imagine that if yours is a falcon X red, yellow, or blue, that it would come with the USB charging cable as it was included in the factory package. On mine you could also charge from the remote if you wanted to.
@sparky0308 , I ordered it from Hobbtron along with another that did say in the description " Charge with USB or from Trx " But the Falcon did not.
