  • Can I replace the suet with margarine or something like that? In Denmark the butchers are not allowed to sell it over the counter due to restrictions in the hygeine

  • No lemon and orange zest and peel? No brandy? No apples, and no carrot.

This Christmas pudding is eesentially ok, but needs a bit more excitement.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH, It worked!!! I've never made one before and I just hate those dinky ones you buy at the store. Only thing, I added some orange and lemon peel too. AND I can't buy suet here so I substituted with Veg Shortning and that worked out just as good. Thanks again. Happy Christmas

  • what is suet?

  • @creolelady182 lard or fat.....I use vegetable shortening instead.

  • whats in mixed spice???? What is it???

  • @GAYPRIDE1985 hahahaha that does not even justify an answer !!!!!

  • @NICNICNICKIFY what??? I live in the US and we don't have anything called "mixed spice." I have never heard of it before!!!

  • @GAYPRIDE1985

It says on Wikipedia that "mixed spice" most commonly contains cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and cloves and that it's similar to the US pumpkin pie spice, so maybe you could use that? From what I've gathered, it's pretty much the same thing.

(I'm not British, either, so I understand your confusion. ;) )

  • @MissKilman Oh thank you MissKilman, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! That makes SO much more sense. Pumpkin pie spice! Great! I really appreciate you helping me, some people think everyone is from the UK and we arent. Now I can make this!!!!

  • @GAYPRIDE1985 You're welcome! Good luck with the pudding, hope it turns out great! :)

  • @MissKilman THANK YOU!!! I do too! I hope yours goes well (if you are making one)

  • @MissKilman It is amazing you talked about mixed spice. I was stumped as well wanted to make sticky toffee pudding it called for mixed spice I thought of pumpkin pie spice too at the store thanks for your comments it helped me too.

  • I love christmas pudding!

I made it last year and is was great. However I didn't use this exact recipe but the one i did use was virtually the same. It just didn't have guineas, and used butter instead of suet. However, though I'm always gonna use butter, adding guineas looks good.

  • @IAMMATSUDA

Make sure you get real Guinness (It's labelled as "Guinness extra stout" these days). Don't use Guinness draught, it's watery bland tasting shite.

  • i love how it tast

  • where can i get white breadcrumbs from?

  • usually from the supermarket....
