Can I replace the suet with margarine or something like that? In Denmark the butchers are not allowed to sell it over the counter due to restrictions in the hygeine
@Knappa22 xmas pudding is the devils choice of desert...also he has an orchard with nothing but grapefruit in it...and he keeps Ginger nut buscuits in the tin with other biscuits...
THANK YOU SO MUCH, It worked!!! I've never made one before and I just hate those dinky ones you buy at the store. Only thing, I added some orange and lemon peel too. AND I can't buy suet here so I substituted with Veg Shortning and that worked out just as good. Thanks again. Happy Christmas
It says on Wikipedia that "mixed spice" most commonly contains cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and cloves and that it's similar to the US pumpkin pie spice, so maybe you could use that? From what I've gathered, it's pretty much the same thing.
(I'm not British, either, so I understand your confusion. ;) )
@MissKilman Oh thank you MissKilman, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! That makes SO much more sense. Pumpkin pie spice! Great! I really appreciate you helping me, some people think everyone is from the UK and we arent. Now I can make this!!!!
@MissKilman It is amazing you talked about mixed spice. I was stumped as well wanted to make sticky toffee pudding it called for mixed spice I thought of pumpkin pie spice too at the store thanks for your comments it helped me too.
I made it last year and is was great. However I didn't use this exact recipe but the one i did use was virtually the same. It just didn't have guineas, and used butter instead of suet. However, though I'm always gonna use butter, adding guineas looks good.

No lemon and orange zest and peel? No brandy? No apples, and no carrot.
This Christmas pudding is eesentially ok, but needs a bit more excitement.

Make sure you get real Guinness (It's labelled as "Guinness extra stout" these days). Don't use Guinness draught, it's watery bland tasting shite.
