Awesome machine. I grew up on a 1688 myself, never dsliked it at all, was a good machine. miss it, haha. we used to run a 6 row head for corn and a 25' bean head for it for 1000 acres. never had much trouble, pretty simple to set for crops. How'd it handel with that 8 row head, looks pretty well to me. We got the 6 row becasue the 8 row was a little more expensive and were afraid it wouldnt be able to handle it.
my uncle just baught an 1640 and has to use 4 row head because he would have to change planters

we got a 1680 and it handles a 8 row just fine, so ur 1688 im pretty sure would

@EzraMyers Theres a guy not to far from our farm that runs a 1680 combine with a 12 row head. Works just fine for him.
