I get it! It's showing the story from an objective perspective--how it would have appeared to anyone except Peyton Farquhar. Sure, it chucks the entire point of the story, but it's interesting nonetheless.
I would like to see a short version that keeps the original surprise ending. Or the entire original version without Jethro Tull. Nothing against Tull, I just like it the way it was made originally.
