Your awesome and i'm new at your channel so.. have u ever done a video of how to read that book of piano (what ever it's call) U've got ALOT of videos so i don't know wich one i should be in
Thankyou so much for sharing what you know with us! There should be more people willing to help, I will try to do that myself as well. Thankyou again!!!
i counted it over and over again: this 7/8 and not 9/8 HTT. am i wrong? would you please explain? 3/8+2/8+2/8 | 2/8+3/8+2/8 | 3/8+2/8+2/8 | 2/8+3/8+2/8 -> 7/8
but thanks for all the effort, great lessons so far.
@steffenarnold77 Yes! You're right about the 7/8. I seriously messed up there! Don't really know how I could've wrote it as 9/8 time....my apologies! If you wrote 7/8 you got it right and get full marks. Sorry for failing there!
Hmmm, judging by the amount of views, meh thinks some people have been skipping some videos hah. Hey man, I havnt commented on here yet so thanks for all your help. I typically went through a video once or twice and then studied. So, if even 10 percent of people did something like me, you could roughly say you taught at least 200+ people the rudiments of music theory!
mr.andrew you are my TEACHER.. I learned a lot from you.. thanky you very much from the bottom of my heart.. I played guitar self taught for 10 years and I really want to learn theory since when I was 15 but I dont have enough money to enroll to that.. You are my saviour for all my dreams in music.. Thank you vey much.. Here in philippines.. :)
mr.andrew furmanczyk you are a real master thank you for the present. i really appreciate it and the thought in the last part you help me clear my mind with regards with the commerial world we are leaving and the man's greed without any purpose of fellow mans' welfare. you are the best sir!!!! i salute you.
Thanks for the awesome music theory course Andrew!
I've got 85/100. I've basically missunderstood the transposition of orchestral instruments. I thought that I needed to transpose them up, but now I understand it's the opposite way. As for the dim12th interval, isn't it supposed to be Db to Abb? I'm really confused about that one. Also, I suppose that in the Db+ vii dim 7 chord that the top note can also be Bbb since it's -3rd up from Gb.
I have just finished watching all your free music theory videos. I never left a comment until now. I just want to say thank you for all the time and effort you put into these videos. You have been a major help in increasing my knowledge of music. Your final comment at the end of this video was awesome and inspiring. Keep doing what you're doing, and I wish you the best of luck!!
Thank you Lypur. I am oh so grateful for your time and your talent. I have just begun lesson 1 of music theory and am going to watch your learn to play piano series after I've completed the music theory series. Are there any books that you recommend to implement with your music theory series or is the music theory series suffice to apply to your learn how to play piano series. May God continue to bless you my cyber friend. I hope that one day our paths will cross, that I may shake your hand and
whoops, posted it twice. Also, I Would Like to Thank you for your help. I'm a guitarist and have also started the piano since i saw ur piano lessons online. I wouldn't know the first thing about music theory if it werent for ur noble efforts. It feels great to finally UNDERSTAND what it is that i'm playing now and WHY. Just wanted to let you know how much i appreciate the fact that u took time out of your day to teach us "cyber students" a thing or two about music. Wish you the best of luck, Mo.
thank u for this free lesson online.....been playing the piano sense i was a little boy...i learned how to play but never to read because my father couldn't afford piano classes....so i'm entirely grateful for all these videos....i hope god blesses you everyday more and more....your fan/ admire-er/ friend
Well done Andrew, you have worked really hard. Its much appreciated, you have inspired me to do something I have wanted to do since i was 5 years old.and I am now a pensioner. Not up to level three yet, only been playing a year, but love every minute. Take care love and God Bless.
Transposing instruments qn (Eb clarinet). I think it''s a bit ambiguous to ask "what do you transpose by?" because it depends which way you're going. If you're reading an orchestral score, and you see a C written for the Eb clar, then that will sound Eb (maj 6th lower), as you said. But if you are writing, and you have in mind an A, and you decide the Eb clarinet should play it, then you need to write F#, which is a transposition up a maj 6th.
1st part of test - there are many alternatives surely, as for one thing you don't specify the language (e.g. vivace = rasch = vite = schnell) ...
14' - 15', 28', etc. It's good practice to write capital roman numerals with horizontal bars, which distinguishes V from v. (In extended Roman a lower case letter denotes a minor or diminished chord.) Otherwise, in A minor say, the reader will confuse V (E maj) with v (E min), either of which could occur.
Thank you for doing this, Andrew. I've been wanting to learn piano for a while now. I hope you don't mind that I copied all the videos (Music theory and beginner lessons) to my itunes just in-case something happens so that I will still be able to learn this. Your humbleness and kindness is also very inspiring too. So again, thank you for doing this, Andrew.
You are such a great person. What you said at the ending is so true, and I wish more people would think like you. People like you, give me faith in this world, there is still some good people left on this earth. Thank you so much, Lypur/Andrew! :) <3
wow man, thanks so much for all of your help!! these videos are of great value to the world!! i never had time to do a course :( but i learned so much with your help thanks again! and i wish you all the best in future :D
Merry Christmas! Thank you very much for all your efforts and time. I have found your lessons extremely useful. You are a very gifted teacher. Thanks again!
Hi Lipur! i have 1 question about sight reading. when you read a sheet that you never seen before, you will read both treble and bass cleffs at same time? or you will practice treble and bass then stick them together. Help me ... :((. Oh.. and Thank you very much for what you've done--- you bring me to a new world :D
@Lypur Oh, thanx. Although I was hoping there would be more. Love ur bids and the way u teach, it's so clear and easy, ur jokes also keep me entertained. U da best!
this test just kicked my ass!! lol (just kidding) dude, your the best , thanks for all the vids, it really made me grow now that i'm playing guitar to understand a lot of music :)
@Craigjazz23 Naw. The third bar has a dotted half rest. That's 6 eighth notes. Then it has the 2 sixteenth-dotted-eigths. Both of those are equivalent to two eighths. That's 10 eighths. It's a 10/8 bar. Most of this stuff is solid and I really like this channel, I'm just sayin he's gonna confuse the heck outta people with that rhythm problem.
@HuggumsMcgehee Yea you are right. He even marked that wrong. I counted that half note rest with quarter notes. That's how he counted them too. Yea I like the channel too. I want to be a music teacher. He could help. For free too. He is right most of the time. He confused himself and all of us.
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh crap!!!! Man, you're very right. It's definitely 7/8 Also, I have another error that I noticed now that I'm looking at this closely. There should definitely not be a dotted half rest there. It should be a dotted quarter rest...
I feel embarrassed for over looking something so obvious. All I can say is, sorry! I'll fix it with an annotation and give my apologies, anyone who wrote in 7/8 should get the mark. Sorry about that guys!
@Lypur No problemo. I often mistranscribe some rhythm when I'm arranging, listen to it, and wonder what the heck happened to all my musical ability before correcting it.
I cant thank you enough Andrew,Im actually starting to study melody and harmony, and counterpoint, with a very good teacher so Im really excited because you taught me absolutely everything I know up till now, Ive watched these videos ever since the first lesson. Im also going to study orchestration once I finish harmony and counterpoint which will be in a couple of years, and the first symphony I will ever write will be dedicated to you and my harmony teacher :D sadly this will be in a few years
@Airvtz since harmony, counterpoint and orchestration take a few years to study.
I also know your favorite composer is Chopin so if you like Chopin, I think you would love Ludovico Einaudi, have a listen and tell me what you think1,
anyway Thank you so much again, and hope to see more Andrew soon!!!
@Lypur You are great man! I have to admit i made it really bad in the exam but i will keep trying, its a joy learning from you.
