I used this software before and about a month or two my files was magically disappear, three times! It didn't show up in the trash and when I searched it its nowhere in my hard disk. It suddenly disappeared!
does anyone know if this will work for say network or firewire drives that multiple computers use? Or does it have to be on the drive that the machine is booted off of?

Why come back in the history using the terminal window when I can use a Free software for hide my files (and show, and hide, and show, and hide, and show...) with a simple drag&drop? :-/
just wondering, if i run a search on my mac hard drive for the hidden folder/file, will it be located (displayed)? I ask because, this doesn't password protect the file, it merely hides it. thanks for the tutorial! much easier than creating a disk image :)
*edit* found out the answer myself when i installed this handy app. the file doesn't show even if you run a search for it. and for a reasonable fee, you can purchase a license for it so that it'll now password protect your files too!
I agree, why use a GUI when you can do everything with the Terminal, move files, create folders, trash files, open files, search the Internet, download emails, use Terminal, not dedicated programs! (^_^)
