You young dudes always do that at concerts! It is soooo rare to go to a concert where the audience doesn't treat the musicians like a cd playing in the background. (Back when I was a dudester, we respected the music and were socialized in a concert. Our Woodstock and Atlanta Pop Festival were great events of togetherness....YOUR Woodstock was a drunken frat-riot. Music is dying and rap and hip-hop are surviving. Enjoy the sewer, dudes!
i meant thunderously cause on some vids i saw of him hes using a fast lound version wit the whole band ..it remind me of dylan on the ROLLING THUNDER REVNUE.. but yea its pretty awesome.. especially this version
This has to have been one of the rare times Conor Oberst and The Mystic Valley Band performed this song or any Bright Eyes related songs. When I saw them live it was only songs from the 2 albums that were already out. But the crowd probably would've erupted if Conor played this when I was there.
But it was essentially a Bright Eyes trio for this performance so I guess that might be why he played it.
and everyone's like singing along real loud and then the singer changes the lyrics and the crowd are all mumbling and pretending they know what to sing and it's all a jumble
EVERYONE NEEDS TO RELAX. conor is simply evolving. you see the growth in every album he's created. in the end, they all evolve into the next album, some are more extreme than others but ultimately, i think he's a country/ folk singer. he's happy and his new 'solo' album is great. i've never seen him act human .. ever.
I can't believe how rude people are, pointing a camera right up at his f*cking face so you can actually see that red light in his face, and then for the flash.. while he's playing and singing, what is wrong with people?
Oh man, ACL was sooo sick. Me and two of my friends drove from Albuquerque just to see him there, only to see him in Taos 3 weeks later haha. What a guy
Me too. I swear, if he doesn't play any Bright Eyes, I'll be terribly dis-satisfied.
Me and my girlfriend were discussing how much better Conor's music was when he was unhappy, and we realized the reason Cassadaga wasn't so great is because he was happy with life at that point.
Apparently, his girlfriend broke up with him lately or something, so hopefully he'll be drunk, sloppy and upset.
Why do people have to be so picky about what is in (austy2000), why can't people just appreciate the good things in life? Conor is one of these things and has been since in my eyes his desaparecidos days. Is it not a bit childish the whole "Yeah but I heard him first so I am the coolest!"
I'm still a teenager but I've loved the Bright Eyes/Oberst thing for quite a while. But I pretty much started listening to them because I loved Cursive(other Saddle-Creek band), and from pretty much buying a lot of merchandise, I'd always get Bright Eyes noise floor stickers, so one day I just decided to check them out. The first album I bought was I'm Wide Awake, due to it being out at the time. Then I started getting into his work a lot, and got everything else I could find. I love all of it.
to be honest i found out about bright eyes about last year and i was the only one who knew who they were out of my friends and i thought cassadaga was great and so i bought the other albums going back to their first one and liked them all and the new one is great aswell i just dont like it when people think that music and talent has to be kept a secret among certain groups. bibi now
I'm a teenager as well but am a true fan. I saw Conor and the Mystic Valley Band last night in Norfolk and it was absolutely amazing. Conor was so happy and upbeat. It was quite possibly one of the best shows I've seen. When I saw Bright Eyes in November, it was very somber and serious. Conor really let loose and had a good time last night. It was a very energetic show. They played the entire new album and a few other songs. No Bright Eyes stuff though. Have a good time tomorrow! :)
i couldnt agree more. i loved it way better when nobody i came across knew who he or bright eyes were. now 15 year old girls recite oberst lyrics on their myspace pages and it makes me want to vomit. at the all ages casadagga tour last year 70% of the crowd was under 18. i sat next to 2 teens and it almost ruined the show for me. sorry for bitching. thank you for this. new or classic, i cant get sick of watching/hearing that torn voice "whisper his darkest secrets"..
arw bore off...go find a new 'undiscovered band' to bum until they make it big at which point you will slate them for 'selling out' people like u make me want to vomit, u dont like music, you like to have other people think ure cool because of the music u listen to.
Good music is always going to get found, quite being a douche bag. I've been listening to bright eyes for six years now. And just because a lot of people know who they are does not mean I'm going to stop listening.

oh thank you thank you thank you! loved this vid! were you in the 'balcony'? awesome shots you got! i love the drummer, jason, took a bunch of pics with him ... hehe :)

He switched the lyrics up quite a bit for this performance.

Totally not true. Dylan went electric and the entire tour was people booing and throwing shit. They payed money to boo and throw shit.
Its the responsibility of the artist on stage to get everyone to shut up. If they can't turn everyone on they aren't doing their job.

No austy your pretty much wrong there. I love music. I live music, i love music.
I just hate how people who don't understand the music will wear his name and have no idea of the meaning behind Conor.
Also I take pride in being not cool. I never wanted to be cool. and I am not cool. So please do not try to judge me through a simple comment I made.
