Wow! There's a lot of vocals that were buried in the mix of the original version that I never heard before like "make a ring around the world" and in the beginning where he says "bubble, bubble, toil and no trouble. That was John's way of counting into a song. Instead of saying 1, 2, 3 and 4. I always thought he said, Bubbalou, bubbalou, like a Ricky Ricardo reference which makes no sense until now.
@sydneyrhxoxo "Toil and Trouble" yes. It was so buried. BUT let's not forget that WAS the Lennon approved mix. But I think this is a million times better.
Al productor del álbum original (Jack Douglas) habría que colgarlo de los huevos...es la primer conclusión que saco al escuchar ésto. Asi debe sonar un disco de Lennon!
One of the great things John was always able to do was create songs that were unmistakably his, but also channel the sound of the period...Lucy in the Sky is pure '60's psychedelia, but pure John....this is about as "80's" as it gets, but couldn't be anyone but Lennon, either.
I'm sure it was already written in the original Double Fantasy CD booklet (but never heard). Listen up the previous remastered version of the album made in 2000.
@KatelynJamie - Wow, he used that "astronaut / telephone voice" effect that is so prevalent on today's pop records + a vocoder effect on Starting Over
Lennon was so revolutionary and opened to new sounds. It is such a shame that he was just right around the corner to that whole New Wave movement. I often wondered what a Beatles Album would have sounded like, once new wave took off...I'm sure that they would have gotten back together JUST to make an album utilizing that whole sound and feel.
Favorite John song.

This is great, very clear and crisp. I believe this was the best music John had released post Beatles. Thank you for posting.
