  • CooL Show my Niece Loves it <3 .

  • The episode is "The Brothers Carry-Mouse-Off". Thank you wikipedia. And fuck all idiots. Nobody cares about the full episode??!

  • Wow, how appropriate is the distortion on 0:21 :D

  • The Chuck Jones T&J's are so much better than the Gene Deitch ones!

  • lol 1:31

  • That episode has a funny end (not shown here): Tom can't get off his costume and is chased by cats.

  • Count me in on Team Quimby . While Jones' work with WB & Bugs Bunny was fine as wine, Quimby's T&J is much better IMHO. Jones T&J is too trippy psychodelic in a way, for me. Characters are more angry/hyper, less cute.

  • I found a message on google once saying when chuck jones made these cartoons he tried his road runner formula & it didn't work. Someone please tell me what is meant by the road runner formula?

  • I like Hanna Barbera better, they make fun story and i like the old classic music and animation too

  • Toms gonna have a busy night ;)

  • i like chuck jones's tom and jerry much better.

    the characters look much nicer

    the quality is better too

  • Tom, a frustrated and sour-looking feline, tries to find a way to catch Jerry but to no avail. If he were to fail in an unusual but psychological struggle to catch something you really want. You can't always get to the point where you could get a backfire compression on your mind.

  • in the 2009 t&j clips i've seen, they seem to have made teh rather strange desision to include big mama from teh origanal shorts, accent and all, but colored her with white skin, kind of suggesting that folk without whit eskin don't belong in cartoons O.o

their also crap, from what i;ve seen. that doesn't excuse these ones though ^^

  • @fyphfoko ...I'm not sure that your reasoning follows the correct "racist idea". I think the real reason that the newer Tom & Jerry skits have the recolored woman, is because the original character perpetrates the "Mammy" archetype; a large, domestic slave-type woman who cooks and cleans, etc.

Just like they edited out the Blackface parts they are editing out the Mammy parts. Look up "Tom & Jerry Casanova Cat" to see an unedited version of both ideas.

  • @luvpain i've only ever seen one example in sataurday evening puss, because in the UK the cartoons were largly left alone, but from my understanding what they did to most of the two shoes footage is they compleatly reanimated and re recorded them to make her into a different charictor altogether, this was in the 50's or 60's

they were also simply redubbed, pointlessly imho

but after a while, they stopped using her in teh cartoons altogether and used either charictors that resembled...

  • @luvpain ...that resebled those in the flitstones, or horible stock charictors like in the movie

but unless they did it for satire, which is always a possability i suppose, i still feel they kind of failed. i don't think the 2009 episodes were recoloured, i think she was desinged to represent mama two shoes from the early cartoons in every importaint way, so she still has the infamouse gone-with-the-wind accent, but they gave her entirely the wrong skin collor ... i just don't know O.o

  • @luvpain the joke is, there have been a number of adverts that i've seen in my lifetime - one for addis and another semi live action one for a car, where they seemed to get it spot on

the latter one, which was late 90's i think maybe even later, was ingenouse. the charictors and classic animation was stop on, and they even went as far as to make live action props interact asif part of the cartoon

so they can still do it, when they want to ;p

  • @fyphfoko

  • Thanks for posting the video. I just watched the full episode online at lastnightstvshows (.) com

  • SHIT IS FUNNY

  • tomandjerry

  • chuck jones pwns... dont know why they took off his show on Cartoon Network (i refuse to call it CN cause thats just dumb). The Chuck Jones show was awesome and all his cartoons were awesome too... most of my favorites are from him, Duck Amuck anyone?

  • Actually, you can find T&J on Boomerang. Both the classic Hanna-Barbara series( Fred Quimby) was just the money man and had no contribution) as well as the Chuck Jones and some of the Gene Deitch shows.

  • I don't understand this message:

"The result - now viewable in widescreen format for the first time in decades as originally shown in theatres - (...)"

The sample has the 4:3 format instead of the 1.85:1 widescreen format, isn't it?

The Jones cartoons original aspect ratio isn't the 4:3?

All the collections (CBS's Tom and Jerry in 65's; The Art of Tom and Jerry by MGM home video; The Turner prints for Cartoon Network) presented this episodes in fullscreen.

PD: The video quality is perfect!

  • I thought it was coming out June 23rd.

  • lol

  • Tom looks a lot like Pinky from Pinky and the Brain.

  • You mean Jerry the mouse.

  • No. I mean Tom. About half way into the video tom puts on a white mouse suit to trick Jerry. That makes this kind of odd since it was years before Pinky and the Brain

  • There is not such thing as bad Chuck Jones. He got 5 Oscars including lifetime achievement, which he received a standing ovation for. He is considered to be brilliant by some of the finest directors. He saved Hanna Barbara from almost collapse and rescued us all from the super sanitary Disney animations.

  • oh really go watch the original TOM&JERRY produced by Fred Quimby then compare it to this crap.

  • I am a big fan of the Fred Quimby work as well. Off hand I'd say that Fred Quimby was in the Tex Avery school that is whatever gag you think of that day until you've made 6 mins. While Chuck Jones was more about character development and subtleties. One thing for sure the jerks who make Tom and Jerry today should have an anvil dropped on them. I stomached 3 mins of the Tom and Jerry movie before hitting eject.

  • Fred Quimby???? The original Tom & Jerry shorts were directed by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera! Jones' ake at Tom Jerry might not have been the best, but they are a million times better than the Gene Deitch abominations!

  • @porcorosso81 I always hated the Gene Deitch versions. The animation was crap, the sound effects were lame and they weren't funny...

  • @porcorosso81 I agree w/ you! The CJ T&J are way better than the GD ones, mostly because they're not as one-sided.

  • What do you mean by "saved Hanna Barbera from almost collapse". H-B didn't go through any bad times in the '70s and '80s" Also, what do you mean by "super sanitary Disney animations"? Not questioning your opinions, just want to know.

  • In the mid-1980s, the company's fortunes declined somewhat after the profitability of Saturday morning cartoons was eclipsed by weekday afternoon syndication.

Wikipedia I admit. However I have texts that explain how animation was a giant bubble that popped in the early 90's. Now with Disney (sigh) some have got Ph.D's on the subject. Peter Pan for example was far more violent, the little mermaid turned in to sea foam, and The hunch back. well they will burn for what they did to great literature.

  • actually in the 80's janna barbera almot went extinct realyy, it was the merger with warner bros. that made itstay afloat
