I'd like to ask you a question..: don't you find that the distortion channel (channel 1) is a lot more quiet than the clean channel (ch 2)...? I tried and tried...and tried, but it really seems to have less volume than the clean channel...I mean, if you set both "Volume" knobs at maximum for example, and "drive" at 5.
I've never bothered to try to match volumes, but I did just now. On my amp, I matched all the buttons and put both drive and volume on 5 for both channels. I found that Ch. 2, was maybe 5% softer than Ch. 1. I mean, there are so many variables to this amp, i.e. - limiter on Clean Channel and all the dip switches, etc. I never had a problem with matching the volumes in a live setting and there is certainly plenty of volume on tap. I never pay attention to the numbers anyway.
...yes, it's difficult to match both channels because they're really different, also I've found that (to my ears) channel 1 has a low pass filter after the distortion stage, like every good tube amp...maybe it's that which softens the attack and apparent volume compared to channel 2...Honestly, I've never used the limiter function of channel 2...maybe I should try! Anyway, channel 1 can easily become really loud, so I think (and hope) it's not damaged..!
