corel-photo paint X3 have a filter for automatic depth of field , just mask the object,and let it rock.

You'll have to do multiple levels of blur for the varying distances, and then re-grain the blurred parts if you really want to make it believable.

There are programs specifically for making a fake depth of field.

This is relatively fast anyway, it just takes 2MPT forever to explain because he's talking to noobs.
