Government jobs are a black hole for my tax dollars, since my (taxes) money pays for their salaries, benefits etc. They pay their taxes from what they earn, of course, but remember, that money initially came from me, so I'm paying the taxes of someone else s earnings too.
To simplify, when you subsidize, that money comes from me, in the form of taxation. The more I'm taxed, the less money I have left over to buy things or use services. If you reduce taxes on me, it means I have more money left over, to buy goods and services, which creates a demand for the same, which in turn means that the providers, of those goods and services, need to hire more workers to keep up with the demand.
The NDP’s proposals seem particularly idealistic. They plan to freeze tuition fees and eliminate all interest on student debt. Although it sounds like a worthy goal, freezing this vital source of revenue will likely force a cutback in university services and facilities, or, more likely, drive even more government spending on Ontario universities to cover the spread.
Without looking into it too deeply, as you are a trusted source, the idea of targeted tax cuts is one which holds appeal to me. The notion of not directly tying tax cuts to job creation has constantly been demonstrated to be a charade. I wish you luck with your elections this year. Unfortunately for me things do not show any promise for our elections in Aotearoa, New Zealand this year. =(
This is not an attack on Obama but this is the fourth time he has tried basically the same thing. The last three bills failed and created less jobs and more debt.
In America the Federal Reserve our central bank controls the economy..
The Federal Reserve's mandate is "Price Stability" and "Full Employment"...
Please everyone look past our so called leaders who always promise us utopia and start looking into who creates currencies around the world...
Luckily, this one candidate in the United States truly stands out. We know we are tired of the politics and we need real solutions now. We are the campaign team for this 2nd Vice Presidential Candidate. Please check it out. youtube[dot]com/watch?v=YZf4HuqkUzY
Unfortuanately, our manufacturing sector was sold down the river some two decades ago with "free trade", courtesy of the libs/conservatives. These jobs will not be coming back in our lifetime. The moneyed elites managed to get us to buy into the concept and there's now no way to reverse their access to "ethical slave labour".
Most Canadians didnt agree with NAFTA. The Mulroney Conservative forced it on Canadians. It was one of those things we were told it was inevitable by the politicans.
That's one of the basic drawbacks of so-called democracy. Big business funds parties and politicians for promises of tax cuts. Their priorities get skewed. So much for representative government.
Wokers only gain a voice when we are represented in all areas of our life, including our workplace, for example, the establishment of unions. There cannot be geniune political representation when labour is completely and utterly at the mercy of the employers and the market.

If you want to subsidize everything than "YOU" pay for it out of your own pocket, I've been taxed enough as it is.

@darksideofthenation You know too much debt will turn into 'Hyperinflation' of our currency!
Then what???

@cfini72
When people have jobs, they will spend and the economy will grow, and govt revenue will increase.

You are trying to stop the avalanche with you hand. I still have hope that a large asteroid will hit the Earth. I've had enough of lost causes.
