I live just a few hundred miles from Thom's place -- I hope to meet him one of these days! We've emailed and listened to eachother's music before, (I'm a small-time producer) but haven't got to talk very much on the subject of music.

Although the chances of my seeing Thom are zero, i think it would be a good idea. Although ambient is the ultimate personal music, an audience can bring a new emotional dynamic to a performance.

For example there is the overnight gig (like some of Rich's) allowing people to drift in and out of light trance- a great idea.

the setting would be so important, watch the steve roach live performance in the cathedral, that is ideal.

As a very good friend of mine, I can say that he does not perform live, at least not yet. He has had some offers though. Many times I have seen him compose/perform in his studio, he's incredible especially at improve!

I don't think he performs live. I could be wrong, but I've never heard of a Thom Brennan performance anywhere.

Looking at Google, i think you're right. i've not heard of him playing a gig, i just assumed he did. Practically everyone on the scene does sometimes it seems.

i'm not a fan of live performances of ambient and new age/drone music. this music is too personal and intimate experience for a live performance. much rather play at home on a high fi system. i think this is one reason why these artists prefer to remain somewhat "anonymous".
