  • Your phalaenopsis probably experienced what i s called bud blast. it usually occurs when the orchid plant is brought from one extreme to another. Such as humidity, temperture, or even lighting. if you make a nice cross cut above the second node on the spike. and keep in 50-65 dgree room in just might reshoot a secondary spike. hope this helps

  • keep at least 65% humidity, 1000-1500 fc lighting. let go slighty dry inbetween watering. and feed weakly weekly. phalaenopsis tend not to like dirty sheets.

  • my husband got me a "moth orchid" and the buds that were there when he got it are starting to fall off. The flowers that have bloomed are doing fine but the bud fell off and it looks like the other two bud are going to fall off? I dont know what to do this is the first orchid i have ever had. HELP!

  • we bought a orchid yesterday to see its lifetime but it cannot have direct sunlight or it will die it cannot be sitting in or overflowing in water we cant figure out a place 2 put the orchid from direct sunlight could you help.

  • @screamer2100 If it's a phal put it near an east window, if it's getting too much light the leaves will turn red.

  • The new pot she put that division in is way too big for that piece of plant.

Also, slow release fertilizers should not be used on orchids that have a rest in their growing cycle, and most times these contain urea, which cannot be used by the orchid.

  • very helpful. thanks
