For about $35.00 The new PIC Kit 2 provides a USB to 6-pin ICSP for the PIC microcontroller. It easily integrates into the MPLAB IDE. Pin connections to the PIC are detailed in the manual. I have used it with the versatile 16F88 with good results.

I should probably buy one of those then, although I think I might try building one like this first just for fun
