Yes, they are the only enemy, they aren't rape victims, and they DO change appearance according to your choices in the game, and honestly that's all this particular Silent Hill game needs.

@Clavsicus Two things to consider: The last two Silent Hill games, previous to this one (that's Origins and Homecoming) accentuated melee combat, Travis being a roughneck truck driver, and Alex being a war veteran (he thinks).

This game puts it all to balance, since some retarded fans started complaining that it was too much combat.

And, like I said, they are representations of Cheryl's thoughs. This Harry doesn't really exist, nor can he influence her thoughts, therefore, he can't hurt them.

Raw Shocks are manifestations of Cheryl's repressed memories, emotions and thoughts of her father. They can't be killed because her father can no longer influence her thoughts or ideals, however, they fear warmth and light - which Alessa lacked after being separated from Harry.

After the first Silent Hill, Alessa is reunited back with Cheryl. This entire game would take place then, I believe, and is all a manifestation of Cheryl's side of Alessa - this Harry isn't real.

All silent hills are illusions.

In this game, Harry crosses between the normal (However I think it's Nowhere, since the regular Silent Hill seems to be abandoned, but people are living normal lives.) Silent Hill and the Otherworld. Whenever Silent Hill becomes frozen up in this game, his mind takes him to the Otherworld, and he has to run from the Raw Shocks. Simply put, he is just seeing things.

Illusion isn't correct - Silent Hill is VERY real. The correct term is Manifestation.

Harry doesn't cross anything. This Harry doesn't exist at all. His memories and actions are manifested by Cheryl.

His mind doesn't really take him anywhere. Nothing exists. The entire story is Cheryl's dream, as reunited with Alessa post Silent Hill 1. The coldness of the Otherword, and Raw Shock's aversion to heat might symbolize that she feels cold and lonely, hence dreaming of her father.

I posted that wayy before I finished the game. However I still believe that most Silent Hill's are illusions. All monster's are simple manifestations. I wouldn't see the Pyramid Head James would see. Laura doesn't even have an Otherworld.

Ice Otherworld didn't exist. That was just manifestation Cheryl's inability to accept the truth, which is why the Raw Shocks are keeping Harry from getting to Cheryl. That's what I think of it.

And Silent Hill isn't an illusion. If you die in Silent Hill, you will die, not "wake up" from the "illusion". It manifests like the monsters.

Henry's trip to Silent Hill was Manifested by Walter Sullivan, and it was quite real considering almost everybody he met died. The Movie's Rose also appears to be at the same place in Otherworld as her husband in the real world, and all her husband can feel is her perfume.

This can't be said for, for example, Lisa Silverman, or Cybil Bennett, as they aren't real people anymore, rather imaginings of someone that Alessa met.

However, Eileen Gavin, Jasper Gein, Cynthia Velasquez, they were all actual living people, who were pulled into Walter's Otherworld, and killed by Walter's Ghost.

That pretty much disproves "illusion".
